Munich Open 2024: Yuki Bhambri-Albano Olivetti reach men's doubles final

Indian tennis star Yuki Bhambri and his doubles partner Albano Olivetti defeated the Austrian pair of Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 10-7 to reach the final of the Munich Open on April 19 (Friday).

Bhambri and Olivetti started strong against the Austrian pair, as they easily secured the first set 6-1 with consecutive breaks of serve. In the second set, Erler and Miedler were successful in breaking the opponent’s serve, as the scoreline read 1-4. However, Bhambri and Olivetti made a comeback, and the set was forced into a tiebreak, which was eventually won by the Austrian duo 6-7 (5-7).
In the decider, Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti managed to take an early lead, which eventually helped them win the match 10-7. With the win, they have secured a spot in the final of the Bavarian International. Interestingly, Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler were also the defending champions of the tournament.
In the final, they’ll face the winner of the second semi-final, which will take place between the pairs of Victor Vlad Cornea & Theo Arribage and Jan-Lennard Struff & Andreas Mies. The final of the ATP 250 Munich Open will take place on Sunday (April 21).

Taking a look at Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti’s campaign in Munich, it has been nothing less than stellar. In their first match, they faced the hot favourites, Belgium’s Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen. However, with composure and grit, they managed to defeat the home hope pair 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-6 in the Round of 16.
Later, they faced the American pair of Evan King and Robert Galloway in the quarterfinals. Nevertheless, with their on-court prowess, they defeated the American pair in straight sets (6-3, 6-3).
