Nick Kyrgios snubbed Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic while choosing the winner of Wimbledon 2025.

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has backed five-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz to win the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. Kyrgios last played at the Miami Open, where he lost to Russia’s Karen Khachanov in straight sets.

Before the Miami Open, the Aussie retired from the first round of the Indian Wells Masters against Dutch tennis star Botic van de Zandschulp due to a wrist injury. At that time, Kyrgios revealed that doctors advised him not to play tennis again.

However, he started playing the game again as an experiment. He said (via ESPN), “It’s all an experiment at this point. I was told I might never be able to play tennis again. [But] I feel I’m like right there. I feel like I can compete.”

Nevertheless, despite being absent from the tennis court, the Australian tennis star has been making headlines with his comments. During a recent interview with The Guardian, the Aussie was asked about his favourite to win at Wimbledon 2025. He said, “Who will win Wimbledon next month? “I’ve got to say Alcaraz.”

Meanwhile, Nick Kyrgios also addressed his 2022 Wimbledon campaign, where he lost to Novak Djokovic in the final. The Australian tennis star was unseeded at the grass Grand Slam in 2022 and started his campaign against wildcard Paul Jubb with a five-set win. Later, he beat Serbia’s Filip Krajinovic and fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the subsequent rounds to reach the last four.

He defeated Brandon Nakashima in the Round of 16 and Cristian Garin in the quarter-finals. Kyrgios got a walkover in the semi-final after Rafael Nadal was forced to withdraw due to an abdominal tear.

He later lost to Novak Djokovic in four sets. Nevertheless, Kyrgios thinks that if he had played a few different shots and made a couple of points here and there, he would have beaten Djokovic for the Wimbledon crown.

He said, “Definitely. It was only a couple of points here and there where, if I’d acted a bit differently, I would have had a Wimbledon title. But there’s no shame in losing to the greatest of all time. Do I think about it often? Yes. Do I think about what I could have changed? Yes. Could I have prepared better? No. I prepared amazingly.”
