Andy Murray can potentially leave Novak Djokovic’s camp to Emma Raducanu in the future.

Novak Djokovic was forced to retire from the semi-finals of Australian Open 2025 due to a left hamstring injury. The Serbian tennis star was in stellar form in Melbourne, prior to his injury, as he stunned four-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals. However, his run at the Rod Laver was halted due to an unfortunate injury.

However, Djokovic, who was seeded seventh in the Australian Open, performed exceptionally at the first Grand Slam of the year. He dropped only two sets on his way to the semifinals and recorded wins over the likes of Tomas Machac, Jiri Lehecka, and Carlos Alcaraz, who are praised for their high work rate.

Last year was not the best for the Serbian tennis star, as he suffered a shocking third-round elimination in the third round at the US Open. Later, he came up short in the final of the Shanghai Masters against Jannik Sinner. The 37-year-old then took a break due to medical concerns and announced that he would join hands with Andy Murray for the 2025 Australian Open.

With the inception of the partnership, it seems like fans can see Djokovic lifting a few more titles this year. Djokovic-Murray have faced each other at junior and senior levels and then locked hours against each other 36 times on the ATP tour, with Djokovic leading the tally with 25 victories.

They shared the tennis court as rivals for nearly two decades. The time was enough for the duo to understand each other’s variables. Aged 37, Djokovic only requires advice on the elite level, and someone who has been at the top spot in the rankings and has faced him in his primes would be a perfect fit.

Djokovic said while he announced Murray as his new coach, “I was going through different names, and I realised that the perfect coach for me at this point would be someone who has been through the experiences that I am going through. Possibly a multiple grand slam winner and a former No. #1.”

Additionally, it wasn’t a hurried decision by the Serbian tennis star. He parted ways with Goran Ivanisevic in March 2024 and took time to pick his new coach. In November, he decided that he wanted Andy Murray to become his new coach. The Briton has won three Grand Slam titles and is also a former ATP World No. #1.

However, the future of the duo is still uncertain, as speculations about Murray joining Emma Raducanu as his new coach are present. Andy Murray has stated that he will hold talks with Djokovic about whether to extend their partnership beyond the Australian Open.
