‘You’re My Soda Pop!’ - Novak Djokovic breaks into K-Pop dance after win to celebrate daughter’s birthday

Novak Djokovic will meet Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open 2025 semi-finals.

Nothing lights up a tennis court quite like a happy Novak Djokovic! After his quarter-final victory over America’s Taylor Fritz at US Open 2025, the Serbian legend celebrated in style with a soda pop dance in tribute to his daughter Tara, who turned eight on September 2.

The showman Djokovic, ended America’s hopes in the men’s singles campaign with the four-set win over the lone warrior World No. 4 Fritz at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday night. The 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 win also extended his flawless head-to-head record against Fritz to 11-0.

But it was the post-match celebration that stole hearts of fans. With a huge smile, the 38-year-old mimicked the trending dance from K-Pop Demon Hunters, and afterward explained that it was a surprise for his daughter.

“Well, it’s 20 minutes to midnight here, the 2nd of September. It’s my daughter’s birthday, so this is a big present for her,” said Djokovic in the post match on court interview.

“Actually, the dance in the end, she’s gonna rate me tomorrow on how the dance was. Because she taught me how to dance,” he added.

With the win, Djokovic moves into yet another Grand Slam semi-final, his fourth this year, where he will face World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz on Friday in what promises to be a blockbuster encounter.

It will be their ninth career meeting. Djokovic currently leads the head-to-head 5-3, including a straight-set win over the young Spaniard in their last clash at the 2025 Australian Open quarter-finals.

Still chasing his record-extending 25th Grand Slam title, Djokovic remains as dangerous and as joyful as ever. He faced some physical discomfort earlier in the tournament but now the Serbian legend is back in form.

What is K Pop Demon Hunters?

K-Pop Demon Hunters is an animated fantasy film that follows the story of a successful K-pop girl group, Huntr/x, who secretly battle demons using the power of their music.

Their biggest challenge arises when they clash with a rival boy band, the Saja Boy, who turn out to be actual demons. The famous “Soda Pop” dance is originated by the Saja Boys in the film.
