Novak Djokovic vs Flavio Cobolli prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Wimbledon 2025

Seven-time champion Novak Djokovic would break some more records should he reach the semis.

Novak Djokovic overcame a tough proposition in Alex de Minaur in the fourth round of Wimbledon 2025, recovering from a shaky start to win 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 and reach his 16th quarter-final at the All England Club. Outplayed early and struggling with swirling winds against De Minaur’s relentless defense, Djokovic lost the first set in just 33 minutes.

He adjusted brilliantly, as the Australian visibly targeted him without constant slices, and Djokovic kept coming forward, winning 35 out of 52 points. Facing a 1-4 deficit in the fourth set, Djokovic’s championship mentality shone as he reeled off five straight games to seal the match.

The seven-time champion recorded his #101 match victory at the All England Club, and continues to chase more history, with his path clearing up with every passing round.

Preview

Flavio Cobolli has enjoyed a dream campaign at Wimbledon 2025, in continuation of what has been an incredible past few weeks for him. The Italian won his second career title at Halle, beating Andrey Rublev in the finals. He then made the third round at Roland Garros.

His maiden grass-court event this year, started with two remarkable wins, over the Brazilian tennis prodigy Joao Fonseca, and top-30 player Denis Shapovalov. At SW19, he made full use of an opened-up draw, after as many as 23 seeds fell in the opening round.

Cobolli knocked out 17th seed Jakub Mensik easily in straight sets in the third round. Former Wimbledon finalist Marin Čilić, who beat home favourite Jack Draper earlier, was downed by Cobolli in four sets. He has been one of the most unexpected names to be featuring in the quarter-finals of the Championship this year.

The 23-year-old youngster now faces an uphill challenge against the greatest of all time, Novak Djokovic. The Serbian has played the Italian just once before, at Shanghai last year, where he won comfortably in straight sets.

Adding a touch of humor ahead of their Wimbledon clash, the 38-year-old joked that he might ask his son—Stefan, for tips on how to beat Cobolli, since his son had been practicing with the Italian recently.

Match prediction

Despite a scratchy performance in the fourth round against Alex de Minaur, where the Serbian dropped the opening set and had to dig deep to recover from a 1-4 deficit in the fourth, underlining the seven-time Wimbledon champion’s trademark resilience and tactical adjustments ultimately saw him through.

While he appeared nearly flawless in his first three rounds, he was far from convincing in the round of 16. His serves faltered in the early stages, and he made uncharacteristic errors on his backhand, particularly during long rallies, which was concerning.

Despite these lapses though, entering the quarter-final against Cobolli, Djokovic’s ability to elevate his game in key moments, combined with his 101 career Wimbledon wins and dominant grass-court record, make him a strong favourite.

Result: Novak Djokovic to win in straight sets.
