Carlos Alcaraz aiming to end Spain's 12-year drought in ATP Paris Masters

Carlos Alcaraz will be making his fourth appearance in ATP Paris Masters this season.

Carlos Alcaraz will be making a comeback on the tour by competing in the ATP Paris Masters 2024. He is seeking to become the second Spaniard after David Ferrer to win the title in Paris. Ferrer had won the title back in 2012 after defeating Jerzy Janowicz in the final. This time Alcaraz could be the one create history for Spain in Paris.

He will be playing in his first ATP match in a month as he was last seen in Shanghai. Alcaraz will be playing in his 15th event of the season. He had competed recently in the Six Kings Slam exhibition while losing to Jannik Sinner in the final. Alcaraz is also aiming to win his fifth title of the season.

The world No #2 will be making his fourth consecutive appearance in Paris. His best performance in the event came in 2022 where he reached the quarter-finals. Alcaraz had to retire mid-match in the quarterfinals against Holger Rune due to an abdominal injury. This time he looks in good shape and has won 51 matches so far.

With the absence of Novak Djokovic in Paris this year, Alcaraz and Sinner will be leading the challenge. Both players have been in their best form this season and are chasing milestone victories in Paris. While Alcaraz looks to be the second player from Spain to win the title, Sinner is hoping to be the first-ever from Italy.

Carlos Alcaraz eager to breach 60 win mark in 2024 season

The 2023 season saw Alcaraz win 60 plus matches for the first time as he also collected six titles. This year he has so far won 51 matches and four titles. Alcaraz still needs nine wins to record 60 wins for just the second time in his career. He will be playing in Paris, ATP Finals and the Davis Cup which are his confirmed events for the remainder of the 2024 season.

The 21-year-old will mostly miss the Belgrade Open, Moselle Open as they will only conclude a day before the ATP Finals. Alcaraz will need to remain fit for the Davis Cup too which will begin immediately after the season ending championship. Spain is set to take on Netherlands in the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup as Alcaraz will lead his team from the front.

With only a few more weeks to go for the grand finale this season, the four-time grand slam champion will want to end the year with a few more crucial wins. The top spot in the rankings belong to Sinner but with few major titles left for grabs, the trophies could go Alcaraz’s way.
