Stefanos Tsitsipas has failed to defeat Novak Djokovic in their last 10 meetings on the tour.

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarterfinal of Paris Olympics 2024. The two tennis stars last faced each other at the final of the 2023 Australian Open, where the Greek tennis star suffered a straight-set defeat.

After Jannik Sinner’s withdrawal from the Games, Djokovic entered the tournament as the top seed. Meanwhile, Tsitsipas, who won the 2024 Monte Carlo Master in April, has been seeded eighth at the Paris Olympics. The Serb tennis star has recorded convincing victories over Rafael Nadal, Matthew Ebden, and Dominik Koepfer.

Meanwhile, Tsitsipas, a two-time Grand Slam runner-up, has stunned Zizou Bergs, Daniel Evans, and Sebastian Baez in his initial fixtures. However, the quarterfinal fixture would be a tough contest for both as they’ll be facing a top 10 opponent for the first time at Paris Olympics.

Novak Djokovic vs Stefanos Tsitsipas preview

Djokovic is keen to win an Olympic gold, and he has also made significant changes to his workout regime and lifestyle. The Serb is residing outside the Olympic Village to avoid any distractions, and he’s also not playing doubles to maximize his chances of winning the gold.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion hasn’t dropped a set yet while his quarter-final opponent, Stefanos Tsitsipas started his campaign with a three-setter against Belgium’s Zizou Bergs. However, he later defeated Daniel Evans and Sebastian Baez convincingly. The wins would help Tsitsipas gain momentum ahead of the mega clash against Djokovic.

The Serbian tennis star has reached only one final this season, at the Wimbledon Championships, where he suffered a one-sided loss against Carlos Alcaraz 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) in two hours and 28 minutes. Additionally, he underwent knee surgery last month for a torn meniscus.

Meanwhile, the Greek tennis star was eliminated in the quarter-final of the Gstaad Open by Matteo Berrettini, last week. At the All England Lawn Tennis Club, his campaign was ended by Finland’s Emil Ruusuvuori in four-sets.

Prediction

After Alcaraz, Djokovic has been the second favourite to win the gold medal at Paris Olympics 2024. The Serb has made a flawless start to his campaign at Stade Roland Garros and his previous records against Stefanos Tsitsipas have been brilliant.

The Greek tennis star, meanwhile, has won only one set against Djokovic in their last five meetings on the tour. In addition to that, he hasn’t been in his best form since the Barcelona Open in March. The 25-year-old prefers shooting groundstrokes from the baseline. On the other side, Djokovic has significantly improved his net game after the meniscus tear.

Sitsipas, a two-time Grand Slam runner-up, can create problems for Djokovic. However, defeating the 10-time Australian Open champion would be a difficult task for Tsitsipas.

Prediction: Novak Djokovic to win in straight sets.
