List of players to win their first six Grand Slam finals in Open Era

Iga Swiatek is the latest to join this elite list with a dominant Wimbledon breakthrough.
Triumph at a Grand Slam becomes part of a player’s legacy. With a field of 128 players competing, victory at a major is never guaranteed. Many accomplished players spend the length of their careers doing their best to bag one, only to miss it by a whisker.
The Grand Slams carry the weight of being the biggest stages in tennis. The four majors—Wimbledon, Roland Garros, the US Open, and the Australian Open are all played on different surfaces. Victory at each Slam demands that a player adapt, both technically and mentally.
Only three players have pulled off the remarkable feat of winning their first six Grand Slam finals in the Open Era. This unique achievement places these talented individuals in a league of their own.
Let’s dive into the finer details and take a look at the story behind the remarkable run.
Players to win their first six Grand Slam finals
Iga Swiatek – 6

Iga Swiatek signed on with a very exclusive club in the WTA by becoming only the second woman after Monica Seles to win her first six Grand Slam finals. Swiatek pulled off an unforgettable win over Amanda Anisimova in the Wimbledon 2025 final on July 12 to win her sixth major crown.
Swiatek double-bageled Anisimova, 6-0, 6-0, to enter the record books as the first Polish woman to lift the Venus Rosewater dish at the All England Club. The Pole’s first Grand Slam title came at Roland Garros in 2020, a venue which yielded four of her six majors —the US Open in 2022 and now Wimbledon in 2025, making up the rest.
The World No. 8 secured the win at her maiden final at Wimbledon in just 57 minutes. It was also her 100th Grand Slam win. The surreal victory made Swiatek only the second player in the Open Era to win a Women’s Singles Grand Slam final with a 6-0, 6-0 score line.
The first was Steffi Graf at Roland Garros in 1988, when she made short work of Natasha Zvereva in just 32 minutes. The shortest Wimbledon final took place in 1975 when Billie Jean King defeated Evonne Goolagong Cawley, 6-0, 6-1 in just 38 minutes.

Monica Seles – 6
Monica Seles took the first step of her journey to six straight Grand Slam wins as a 16-year-old at the 1990 French Open. She defeated Graf in the finals that year, 7–6(8–6), 6–4 to win the women’s singles title. Between 1990 and 1993, Seles played nine Grand Slam finals, winning eight of them.
Seles reeled off six of those eight wins in a row—a stint that began at Roland Garros in 1990 and ended at the same venue in 1992. In the 1992 French Open final, her rival was once again Steffi Graf. The German made a contest of it before Seles eventually won, 6–2, 3–6, 10–8.
Roger Federer -7

Roger Federer jump-started his Grand Slam success story by winning his first seven finals at the majors. Federer scooped up his seven titles between Wimbledon in 2003 and the Australian Open in 2006. It remains the best undefeated start by any player, man or woman.
When it comes to the overall tally across the ATP Tour, the Swiss great won 24 straight titles between October 2003 and September 2005. It began in Vienna and ended in Bangkok.
David Nalbandian prevented Federer from winning his 25th straight final at the Tennis Masters Cup in 2005. The Argentine came from two sets down to defeat Federer 7-6(4), 7-6(11), 2-6, 1-6, 6-7(3).
