Only Federer and Djokovic have achieved 100+ Grand Slam match wins at multiple tournaments.

One of the unique feats in tennis is winning 100+ matches at a single Grand Slam. Only six players have managed to achieve this milestone in Open Era history, further showing the tremendous longevity, skill and determination needed to flourish in such conditions for more than a decade.

Today, we take a look at the legends of our sport, and how they cemented their legacy as the greatest to have ever performed in each of these Grand Slam majors.

Full list of players to win 100 or more Grand Slam matches

Martina Navratilova – Wimbledon (120 Wins)

Martina Navratilova reached 100 match wins at Wimbledon in 1991, defeating Elna Reinach in the first round. Navratilova’s serve-and-volley brilliance and athleticism was perfectly suited to the grass courts of Wimbledon, where she won a record nine singles titles.

By the end of her career, she had amassed 120 match wins at Wimbledon—the most by any player, male or female, at a single Grand Slam, demonstrating her unparalleled dominance at the All England Club.

Chris Evert – US Open (101 Wins)

Chris Evert was the first player ever, irrespective of gender, to reach 100 match wins at a Grand Slam, accomplishing the feat at the 1989 US Open. She recorded her 100th win by defeating Patricia Tarabini in the third round, and finished with 101 wins at the tournament.

The American’s consistency, mental toughness, and baseline prowess saw her win six US Open titles, and her remarkable record at Flushing Meadows remains one of the sport’s great benchmarks.

Rafael Nadal achieved his 100th match win at Roland Garros during the 2020 French Open, defeating Novak Djokovic in the final to claim his record 13th French Open title. Nadal’s dominance on clay is unmatched in tennis history, with his relentless athleticism, heavy topspin, and fighting spirit making him nearly unbeatable in Paris.

The Spaniard called time on his career with 112 wins and just four losses at the Roland Garros, thereby rightfully earning the title—the “King of Clay”.

Serena Williams – US Open (108 Wins)

Serena Williams joined the exclusive 100-match win club at the US Open in 2019, reaching the milestone with a commanding quarter-final victory over Qiang Wang. Renowned for her power, athleticism, and relentless competitive spirit, Serena became an unstoppable force in New York, ultimately amassing 108 match wins and capturing six titles.

As the beloved home favourite, she carved her own legacy at a tournament notorious for shocking upsets, rewriting the narrative with her brilliance and resilience to defy the odds time and again.
