Preview: Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner final prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head: Monte Carlo Masters 2026

Alcaraz and Sinner set to square off for the first time this season.

Carlos Alcaraz ended home favourite Valentin Vacherot’s journey in Monte-Carlo in the semi-finals. The Spaniard edged out Vacherot, 6-4, 6-4, in 84 minutes to set up a blockbuster title-round clash with Jannik Sinner.

Alcaraz has kept his hopes of defending his crown alive at the 2026 Monte Carlo Masters. The No. 1 spot in the ATP Rankings will be at stake in Sunday’s final.

The 22-year-old Alcaraz converted three of four breakpoints, aided by 22 winners, en route to the 84-minute victory. The top seed is in his 10th Masters 1000 final as he bids to clinch his second successive title in the Principality.

Jannik Sinner had an easy day at the office, defeating Alexander Zverev in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4 in one hour and 23 minutes. It was his eighth straight victory over the German.

It is third time lucky for the Italian World No. 2 after back-to-back semi-final exits in 2023 and 2024. Sinner broke Zverev four times and fired 22 winners to the German’s nine. It is a third straight ATP 1000 final for the No. 2 in the ongoing season.

The 24-year-old is now on 21-straight match wins at the ATP 1000 level since his title run at the 2025 Paris Masters. If Sinner wins, he will become the first Italian to do so since Fabio Fognini in 2019.

Alcaraz is on 300 career wins and counting after his semi-final victory over Vacherot. The Spaniard will hope to join Rafael Nadal over the weekend by winning his second straight title on Monte Carlo clay and make history as one of three Spaniards with multiple titles on the surface this century.

Nadal won three in a row between 2016 and 2018 in addition to the eight he already owned, and Juan Carlos Ferrero went back-to-back in 2002 and 2003.

Match prediction

With the World No. 1 ranking on the line, the stage is set for an epic showdown in Monte Carlo on Sunday as the top two players in the world prepare to go toe-to-toe.

Alcaraz leads the head-to-head clash with Sinner 10-6, a fact not lost on the Italian. The Spaniard has also won three of four tour-level meetings on clay.

Their last meeting took place at the year-ending ATP Finals in November 2025. Sinner and Alcaraz fought it out in the finals of the 2025 Italian Open, a face-off which they will reprise on Sunday. That meeting in Rome was the only one at a clay court Masters until now.

The surface is likely to favour Alcaraz, who will be looking to win his ninth ATP 1000 trophy and make amends for losing out in Indian Wells and Miami in March.

Sinner pocketed the Sunshine Double, and Alcaraz will have his work cut out if he wishes to extend his reign at the top after Monte Carlo.

Result: Carlos Alcaraz to win in three sets.
