'Takes time to come to terms' - Rafael Nadal breaks silence on Emma Raducanu & Carlos Alcaraz's relationship rumours

The duo will play the US Open 2025 as mixed doubles partners.

Wimbledon 2025 is over, but the talk around Carlos Alcaraz’s relationship with Emma Raducanu isn’t going away anytime soon. The two have been asked numerous times about their personal life and what they make of their to-be doubles partner, but have never given a definite response so far.

Back in 2024, the Spaniard remarked that he is currently single. “No, I am single. I am looking for someone. It can be difficult as a tennis player to meet the right person because you are traveling all the time,” Carlos Alcaraz shared in an interview.

Meanwhile, when Emma Raducanu was told about these rumours, she blushed but did not deny them. “I’ve known him for years. Wimbledon 2021 was the first time I started getting to know him, and I had a good run there and then also again in the US Open in 2021,” she said.

The Brit joked when she found out everyone was having fun due to this alleged romantic link, but refused to comment further on this topic.

The tennis fraternity is certainly aware of this budding potential relationship, and recently, Rafael Nadal was asked to give his opinion on the matter. Alcaraz considers the Spanish legend his inspiration, and in a recent interview with The Times, the 22-time Grand Slam Champion made his stance clear on this topic.

“Sorry, but I don’t get involved in those topics,” said the 39-year-old, who indirectly meant it was not his business to interfere in what is a personal topic which should be restircted between the two players.

Instead, Nadal was more comfortable talking about Raducanu’s recent performances, her third-round finish at Wimbledon this year, and re-entry into the top 50 WTA rankings.

“I think she won very early on. When she won the US Open, she was very young. There were many expectations and pressures on her. It takes time to come to terms with,” he claimed.

The Brit was seen watching Alcaraz from the stands twice in recent weeks, but interestingly chose to attend Jannik Sinner’s semi-final over Alcaraz’s match, raising doubts about the rumored relationship. Unlike Nadal, who has valued privacy in this case, this story is likely to keep attracting relentless media attention, fueling even more drama, whether or not there’s any truth behind the speculation.
