Alexander Zverev‘s numbers are considerably more mixed by comparison. He owns a 28-20 combined record against the six World players, but has losing head-to-head records against both Taylor Fritz (6-10) and Alexander Bublik (1-3).
Meanwhile, Casper Ruud brings another strong overall record into the contest, including a particularly impressive 7-1 mark against Bublik. Meanwhile, Jakub Mensik and Flavio Cobolli both have losing records against most of the World players they could face.
On the other side, Taylor Fritz arrives as the most reliable player given his record against Zverev, and Alex de Minaur brings a strong overall win rate despite his poor history vs Alcaraz. Bublik has been a genuine puzzle for Europe’s bigger names, while Cerundolo and Learner Tien round out the squad.
Brandon Nakashima, who fared magnificently in the North American swing, could be a surprise contender, but the absence of Ben Shelton and Tommy Paul will hurt Team World.
Given the format and captains’ tendency to lean on their strongest singles players early, an Alcaraz vs Fritz feels like the must-watch clash of the weekend. Zverev’s ties against Fritz or Bublik carry real intrigue. Doubles will once again be unpredictable, promising thrilling action and entertainment.

What is the format of the Laver Cup 2026?
The Laver Cup is an annual men’s team tennis competition featuring Team Europe and Team World. Each side comprises six players and one alternate, with the teams going head-to-head across singles and doubles matches over three days.
The competition uses a progressive scoring system, meaning the momentum can shift dramatically on the final day. Wins are worth a point on Friday, two on Saturday and three on Sunday, allowing a team trailing after the opening couple of days to mount a significant comeback.
The first team to reach 13 points is crowned champion. Each of the six players must compete in at least a singles match in the opening couple of days, while no player can feature in more than two singles matches during that period.
In doubles, at least four of the six players from each team must take the court at least once during the competition. Team captains plan strategies by choosing the pairings for each match.
