WTA Finals 2026: Updated schedule, fixtures, results, live streaming details
Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from the season finale
The WTA Finals 2026 makes its way to the outdoor courts of Indian Wells for the season finale. The showpiece event brings together the top eight singles players and doubles teams to California.
Four players are set to make their debut at the WTA Finals—Mirra Andreeva, Karolina Muchova, Linda Noskova and Marta Kostyuk. Reigning champion and World No. 1 Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from the event. This leaves two other former champions in the fray—Elina Svitolina and Coco Gauff.
Rybakina made an undefeated title run in Riyadh last season, taking home $5.5 million for the largest payout in women’s sports history. The Kazakh was to make her third appearance at the event.
Following Rybakina’s withdrawal, we will see an 11th different champion at the WTA Finals. The last player to defend her title was Serena Williams, winning three in a row between 2013 and 2015.
Marta Kostyuk will step in as the alternate following Rybakina’s last-minute withdrawal.
Gauff, winning in 2024 (Riyadh) and Svitolina, who was crowned champion in 2018 (Singapore) are chasing their second WTA Finals title in the 2026 edition.
Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula came close to winning the trophy. Sabalenka has played two finals in 2022 (lost to Caroline Garcia) and 2025 (lost to Elena Rybakina). Pegula came close in Cancun 2023 before losing to Iga Swiatek in the summit clash.
Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens won their second WTA Finals doubles title last season with a straight-sets victory Timea Babos and Luisa Stefani in the finals last year.
