The Indian tennis team face hosts South Korea in the second round of the Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers. India are hoping to make history by reaching the final stage of the competition for the first time since 2011.
However, to achieve that, India—ranked 19th in Davis Cup—will have to go past 16th-ranked South Korea, who will be playing at home. The winner of this tie will advance to the Davis Cup Finals, which will be played between the top eight teams, scheduled to be held in Bologna, Italy, in November.
Meanwhile, the losing team will be relegated to the round 1 of the Davis Cup qualifiers.
While South Korea are higher-ranked and have a former World No. 19 in Hyeon Chung, India will be confident of a result, especially after their victories over Switzerland and Netherlands in previous rounds.
Day 1 will see Dhakshineswar Suresh and Sumit Nagal in action in the singles rubber, followed by the doubles action on Day 2 which will see Sriram Balaji and Niki Poonacha lead India’s hopes. There will also be a third and fourth singles rubber if required.
