Taylor Fritz vs Jiri Lehecka prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Canadian Open 2025

Despite good form and playing on his favourite surface, Fritz has been vulnerable in the North American swing.
With Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Jack Draper and Novak Djokovic absent, Taylor Fritz was and continues to be the hot favourite to win the Canadian Open title. However, the American has dealt with tremendous fatigue which potentially has had a say on his performances on court.
While hard courts are his most preferred surface, the second seed have been far from flawless so far.
Fritz lost to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Washington Open, where the path seemed to be open for him to claim the title. He blamed the hectic scheduling and rigid ATP-500 rules, hinting a potential rest and skipping the Washington Open would have been better for his body.
Against Roberto Carballés Baena in his opening round match at Toronto, the World No. 4 survived a dodgy second set, where he was a break down before producing a mini-comeback and winning the tiebreaker. For a player whose biggest asset on court is his serving, Fritz’s 54% and 59% first serves in rate is worrying.
With a much-improved display against Gabriel Diallo in the third round, in terms of dominance on scoreboard, eyes would now be on his round of 16 clash. Interestingly, the American has never progressed beyond the third round at Toronto and would be eager to go the distance this time around.

Preview
Jiri Lehecka has had a decent year so far, marked by ups and downs. He began with a triumph in Brisbane, along with occasional deep runs. His Washington Open appearance ended with a third-round loss to eventual champion Alex de Minaur. His best run barring his Brisbane triumph came at the Queen’s Club this year, where he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the finals.
The Czech overcame two challenging opponents in the form of Mackenzie McDonald, and later 15th seeded Arthur Fils in the third round. His duel against the Frenchman was an intense one, with Lehecka coming back from a set down to clinch his fourth round spot.
Fritz and Lehecka have met three times on tour, with all three battles taking place in the 2023 calendar year. The American won all those contests, including a round of 64 clash in Cincinnati, which happened to be their most recent exchange.

Match prediction
Taylor Fritz and Jiri Lehecka are set for a competitive showdown, with Lehecka showing marked improvement since their last encounter. While neither player is in peak form, Fritz holds the edge with his aggressive baseline play and powerful serving.
Despite a lower-than-ideal first-serve percentage, Fritz has won over 80% of points on his first serve in Toronto. His superior hard-court game could give him the upper hand in reaching the quarter-finals.
