Sinner conquered Miami without dropping a set.

By winning Miami Open 2026, World No. 2 Jannik Sinner set a slew of records while breaking others. Sinner defeated Jiri Lehecka, 6-4, 6-4, to win the Miami ATP 1000 without dropping a set. The title run in Florida has come a fortnight after winning his maiden Indian Wells trophy in a similar fashion.

The 93-minute victory makes Sinner the first Italian to claim the Sunshine double. He is also the first man to reach the milestone without dropping a set.

The World No. 2 has now emulated Roger Federer, the last man on tour to win the double in 2017. Federer won the ‘Sunshine Double’ thrice in his career – 2005, 2006 and 2017.

The title run in Miami is also Sinner’s third consecutive ATP 1000 title, going back to the Paris Masters in November 2025. His victory in the French capital was achieved without dropping a set, making it 34 consecutive sets won at the Masters level.

Lehecka was playing some of his best tennis this fortnight, but failed to stop the Italian juggernaut from winning his second title of the season. The Czech was looking to emulate countryman Jakub Mensik’s 2025 title run in South Florida.

On winning his seventh ATP 1000 title, Sinner has closed the gap with Carlos Alcaraz in the ATP Rankings. The Italian has trimmed the lead to just 1150 points after clinching the Miami crown.

Alcaraz, who claimed the top spot following his title run at the 2025 US Open, is defending 4500 points after a winning spree during the clay court swing last year. The World No. 1 bagged a trio of titles with wins at Monte-Carlo, Rome and Roland Garros.

Sinner will also close the gap with Alcaraz in the Live Race to Turin once the revised rankings are out on Monday.

The Race to Turin is already heating up, with a resurgent Daniil Medvedev returning to the ATP Top 10 and is third in the race to qualify. Miami Open semi-finalist Arthur Fils is up eleven places to No. 8.

Mover of the week is Miami Open runner-up Jiri Lehecka, who is up 54 places to No. 10 in the Live Race to Turin.
