Virat Kohli watches Novak Djokovic play at Wimbledon 2025: 'Business as usual for the gladiator'

Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma were not the only celebrity duo in attendance for Novak Djokovic’s match.

Now on a break following his retirement from Test cricket, star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli was in attendance as Novak Djokovic registered his 101st win at Wimbledon Championships, with a comeback victory against 11th seed Alex de Minaur. Djokovic had to recover from a set down to defeat the Australian 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 for a 16th quarter-final appearance at the grass court major.

Kohli was spotted watching the match unfold alongside his actor wife Anushka Sharma in the centre court’s Royal Box. The 36-year-old also later took to his Instagram and lauded Djokovic for his fourth-round win. “What a match. It was business as usual for the gladiator,” Kohli wrote alongside a picture of Djokovic serving in the final set.

However, Kohli and Anushka weren’t the only celebrity duo in attendance for Djokovic’s match against De Minaur. Eight-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer and his wife Mirka were also in attendance; the former making his much-anticipated return as a spectator and was welcomed with a standing ovation.

Federer watched as Djokovic overcame a slow start to take another step closer to a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title. Should he lift the title at SW19, the Serbian will also equal Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles and would have surpassed another Federer record of 105 match win at the grass court major. Djokovic is currently on 101 wins.

Djokovic had a word of appreciation for Federer and thanked him for his presence. “It’s probably the first time he’s watched me, and I won the match,” said the 38-year-old of his former rival.

Meanwhile, this wasn’t the first time Kohli was attendance for a Djokovic match having previously watched the Serbian from his “box” at Wimbledon. The mutual admiration these two have for each other is well-documented.

The two have previously acknowledged each other in interviews and on social media, representing not just the best in their respective sports but also mutual values of mental strength, longevity, and discipline.

Kohli is fresh from his maiden IPL title with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and is now expected to on a lengthy break from international cricket, given his retirement from test and T20I formats and the postponement of India’s upcoming ODI series in Bangladesh. He could next feature when India tour Australia for a white-ball series in November.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic will look ahead to his quarter-final meeting against Italian Flavio Cobolli after the 22nd seed downed Marin Cilic 6-4, 6-4, 6-7(4), 7-6(3) to reach his maiden quarter-finals at Wimbledon.
