The Singapore Tennis Open 2025 is a WTA 250 tournament for female professional tennis players to be played on outdoor hard courts as part of the 2025 WTA Tour. The event is set to engage fans as professional women’s tennis takes centre court at the Kallang Tennis Hub from 27 January to 2 February 2025.

The tournament plays out just after the Australian Open and will feature some of the best talents from the women’s fraternity. The competition marks a return of the WTA Tour to Singapore after a seven-year absence since the 2018 WTA Finals.

Among the player field for STO 2025 are current World No.14 Anna Kalinskaya, 2021 US Open Champion Emma Raducanu, and 2020 WTA Player of the Year, Sofia Kenin, who are set to make their Singapore debuts. The qualifying rounds on 25 and 26 January will witness more names being added to the main draw, along with 4 additional wildcards.

“The player field is looking good for the tournament, and I believe we are going to see some great matches in both singles and doubles. We still have the qualifications coming up so we will see how the Main Draw shapes up, but it will be a good mix of experience and also fresh talent. It’s going to be great for the fans,” shared Laura Ceccarelli, co-tournament Director of STO 2025 ahead of the marquee event.

In a bid to promote the fans to a wider audience in the country, tennis fans can now enjoy two days of swashbuckling action for free. With athletes from various parts of the world including the United Kingdom, Japan, China, and Columbia set to go head-to-head, the Singapore Tennis Open 2025 promises to deliver a spectacular showcase of talent and some highly entertaining rivalries.

The Singapore Tennis Open is a WTA 250-level tournament, which will be held here for three years until 2027. This week-long tournament takes place immediately after the first Grand Slam of the year, the Australian Open. This is Singapore’s first tour-level event since the 2018 WTA Finals.

Anna Kalinskaya

The highest-ranked player in Singapore is Anna Kalinskaya, the current world No. 14 who made headlines on the WTA tour last year when she reached her first Grand Slam quarter-final at the Australian Open.

Sofia Kenin

Also making her Singapore debut is American Sofia Kenin. The 26-year-old is most well known for her stellar season in 2020 where she triumphed at the Australian Open and later made it to the final of the French Open. For her exploits that season, she won the WTA Player of the Year award.

Elise Mertens and Wang Xinyu

Grand Slam Doubles Champions Elise Mertens and Wang Xinyu will also be bringing their best games in singles at STO 2025. Mertens has won two Australian Open, a Wimbledon and a US Open doubles titles, while Wang won the French Open doubles title in 2023. Currently ranked 34 and 37 in the WTA World Singles Rankings respectively, both will be looking to show off their prowess and versatility on the court.
