Who holds the record for the longest unbeaten streak in Grand Slam finals?

Only one player has won eight consecutive Grand Slam finals.

If Carlos Alcaraz beats Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon 2025 final, his unbeaten streak in Grand Slam finals would extend to six. The Spaniard has played five Grand Slam finals (One US Open, two French Open, and two Wimbledon) and has won all of them.

With the third Wimbledon crown, he would equal the records of Iga Swiatek and Monica Seles, who have won six consecutive Grand Slam finals in their professional careers. Swiatek won her sixth title recently at the 2025 Wimbledon, also becoming the first Polish tennis player to win Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, Monica Seles reached the milestone between 1990 and 1992 in her initial six Grand Slam triumphs. Her streak started at the 1990 French Open with a win over Steffi Graf.

She later won the Australian Open and the US Open while defending her Roland Garros crown in 1991. In 1992, she won the Australian Open and the French Open before coming up short against Graf in the Wimbledon final.

As a result, only two players have recorded seven consecutive victories in Grand Slam finals. The players are Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. The former Swiss tennis player won all seven initial Grand Slam finals he played in. His streak started against Australia’s Mark Philippoussis at the 2003 Wimbledon Championships.

In 2004, he defended his Wimbledon crown while winning the Australian Open and the US Open. The Swiss tennis icon repeated the same feat in 2005 by winning three Grand Slams, except the French Open. Federer’s iconic streak came to an end in the 2006 French Open, where he lost to his arch-rival, Rafael Nadal.

Meanwhile, Nadal’s seven-match streak started at the 2008 French Open. He won the 2008 Wimbledon and the 2009 Australian Open. He won three Grand Slam titles in 2010 and one in 2011, but his streak eventually came to an end against Novak Djokovic in 2011.

The player with the longest unbeaten streak in Grand Slam finals is Pete Sampras. His streak started at the 1995 Wimbledon, when he stunned Boris Becker in four sets. Sampras consecutively won the US Open in 1995 and 1996 before winning the 1997 Australian Open.

Later, he won four consecutive Wimbledon titles between 1997 and 2000. His streak ended against Marat Safin in the 2000 US Open final.
