Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are back on Centre Court for a second Wimbledon final in a row.
Novak Djokovic sealed a straight-set win over Lorenzo Musetti, ending the Italian’s Wimbledon 2024 run and his attempt to reach a Grand Slam final for the first time. The Serbian earned a 6-4, 7-6(2), 6-4 win against the Italian in 2 hours and 48 minutes to stride into his sixth straight SW19 final and 10th overall.
With this, Djokovic has matched Bjorn Borg for second most consecutive final appearances (6) at Wimbledon. Federer, with seven straight finals (2003-09), is in the top spot. While Djokovic may have to wait another year to tie with Federer’s record of seven straight finals, another of the Swiss great’s records is up for grabs in the finals weekend. Djokovic has a chance to equal the eight Wimbledon titles won by Federer.
The 37-year-old will now face Carlos Alcaraz in a much-anticipated rematch of last year’s final. Alcaraz is on the brink of back-to-back titles at Wimbledon after a win in the other semi-final against Daniil Medvedev. The last pair to make the finals twice in a row were Djokovic himself and Roger Federer in 2014 and 2015.
Alcaraz, 21, setup the finale date with a 6-7(1), 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 win on Friday afternoon in 2 hours and 55 minutes. Familiar foes Alcaraz and Medvedev played out a repeat of last year’s semi-final result in which the Spaniard came out on top in straight sets.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic preview
Djokovic has a history of winning at Wimbledon, with four straight title wins before Alcaraz unseated him in 2023. The 98-time tour-level titlist benefited from extra rest when Alex de Minaur could not turn up for their quarter-final clash due to a hip injury. Djokovic, World No. #2, claimed his 97th career men’s singles match win after getting the better of Lorenzo Musetti in the last four.
Musetti, competing in his first major semi-final, conjured up magical moments on Centre Court but was unable to join countrywoman Jasmine Paolini in the finals.

Should Alcaraz successfully defend his title on Sunday, the Spaniard will complete a rare Roland Garros-Wimbledon double in the same year. He will become just the sixth player to reach the milestone, joining the ranks of Rod Laver, Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in achieving the feat.
It was a disappointing end to Medvedev’s Wimbledon campaign and the Russian remains without a title since winning the Rome Masters in May over a year ago.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic prediction
Tennis fans will be getting a rematch of last year’s classic Wimbledon final between World No. #2 Novak Djokovic and World No. #3 Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic’s knee has held up well despite concerns while entering the tournament.
Alcaraz has been prone to losing those opening sets all fortnight and will need to step up if he is to defend his title against Djokovic. Despite the Spaniard’s success last season, the 37-year-old remains the better player on grass, and the trophy will be the Serb’s to lose.
The Spaniard survived a tense five-set affair against Frances Tiafoe in the third round and is yet to reach the heights he is capable of. Djokovic is long overdue for a Grand Slam win this season and will have an edge on London’s grass courts.
Result: Novak Djokovic to win in four sets.
