A staggering total of 2863 aces were hit in men’s singles at Wimbledon 2024.
Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest player in tennis history to win both French Open and Wimbledon titles in the same calendar year. The 21-year-old secured his fourth Grand Slam title and broke several records along the way.
Wimbledon 2024 tournament mirrored the 2023 edition in terms of opponents faced by Carlos, but this time, the Spaniard was a lot more dominant, especially against his nemesis, Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic, who was making a hurried comeback from a knee injury, was nearly untested throughout the competition having not played a single top #10 player until the final.
Despite being the most successful tennis player, playing against quality opponents in pressure match situations is necessary to prepare the body both mentally and physically.

This inadequate preparation was exposed on the day of the finals as it took almost two2 sets for the Serb to get close to his best form, which proved to be too late in the end.
Aces, a hallmark of grass-court tennis, played a pivotal role in determining the outcomes of matches as players aimed to gain crucial advantages with their serves. The finalists, Alcaraz and Djokovic hammered a total of 125 aces amongst them throughout the course of the tournament.
Let’s have a look at the top five players who hit the most number of aces at Wimbledon 2024.
Men’s singles players with most aces at Wimbledon 2024
5. Alexander Bublik: 66
At number five, despite having played just three matches in the tournament, is the hard-hitting Kazakh who has had a decent 2024 with an impressive 385 aces prior to the tournament. Alexander Bublik hit 66 aces in three matches at Wimbledon 2024. His big serves helped him make his debut in the top #20 of the ATP rankings.
The Kazakh made history with his run to the title in Montpellier, becoming the first player in ATP history to win a title after being a set down in all his matches and he backed that up by reaching a second final of the season in Dubai. But his disappointing performance in Grand Slam continues.
The 27-year-old was earlier eliminated in the second round of the French Open to the German, Jan Lennard Struff. After managing to survive the first two rounds of Wimbledon 2024, the Kazakh lost to an in-form Tommy Paul in straight sets.
4. Daniil Medvedev: 69
A list of top ace scorers and no Daniil Medvedev? The Russian had hit 62 aces last year at Wimbledon. This year he improved to 69 aces in six matches.
With hard courts being his more favourable surface, it was an overall decent campaign for the 2021 US Open Champion, who took out current World Number #1, Jannik Sinner in a hard fought five setter.
The match must have drained the fifth seed both mentally and physically, but he wouldn’t miss the opportunity to avenge his 2023 semi-final loss.
The 28-year-old’s dream of qualifying for his first ever Wimbledon final was well and truly alive after getting a flying start early on against Carlos Alcaraz.
However, it was in the later stages of the first set that Medvedev got into an ugly spat with the chair umpire which led to a break, following which nothing went his way. The break allowed his Spanish opponent to regain his lost mojo and once the third seed was able to get back to his best, it was curtains for the Russian.
Medvedev managed to nail only five aces in the semi-final which had a crucial say in the result. However, in Medvedev’s defense, many of those first serves would have remained aces against any other player. Alcaraz’s remarkable ability to reach seemingly unreachable balls prevented the Russian from scoring easy points.

3. Quentin Halys: 70
Not many of us would have predicted Quentin Halys to be among the top five ace hitters in the tournament. The 27-year-old came into the tournament ranked No. #220 in the world and had to make his way through the qualifying draw.
The Frenchman, who reached the third round at Wimbledon 2023, defeated Christopher Eubanks, last year’s quarter finalist, in the first round in straight sets. He then shocked 21st seed Karen Khachanov in the second round, coming from two-sets-to-one down to win in a five-set marathon.
In the quarter-final match against 15th seed Holger Rune, Halys found himself in a commanding position, leading by two sets. However, the Danish made a terrific recovery, ultimately proceeding to the fourth round.
The staggering aspect of the match was the 29 aces that the Frenchman managed to hit, further highlighting his remarkable serving ability.
2. Taylor Fritz: 78
As one of the cleanest ball strikers in the men’s game, it’s no surprise that the American No. #1 ranks high on the aces count.
Taylor Fritz had a strong start to 2024, reaching his first Australian Open quarter-final and successfully defending his Delray Beach title without dropping a set. He also made it to the fourth round of the French Open for the first time.
The 26-year-old showcased his superb serving ability, hammering 20 aces against 24th seed Tabilo in the third round and 15 aces against Alexander Zverev in the fourth. However, in the quarterfinals, the American got flashbacks of his 2022 loss against Rafael Nadal as he lost to Lorenzo Musetti in an incredible five-set contest.
Despite the loss, the 13th seed will remember the tournament for a long time due to his stunning comeback against Tokyo Olympics gold Medallist, Zverev, after being two sets down. Going from strength to strength is the American, who will aim to put up a much better show at the US Open.

1. Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard: 115
The world No #58 defeated Sebastian Korda, Yoshihito Nishioka and Emil Ruusuvuori to become one of the only five lucky losers to reach the last 16 of the Wimbledon men’s draw in the Open Era.
Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard capped off the tournament as the highest ace getter: a massive 115 aces. An astonishing 51 of those aces came during his five-set upset of Korda, the No. #20 seed, in the first round.
The Frenchman joined the likes of John Isner and Ivo Karlovic as one of only seven men in history to fire more than 50 aces in a match.
The fact that those pinpoint aces helped him save 11 breakpoints reaffirms the importance of serving and nailing aces to succeed at Wimbledon.
The 21-year-old is not afraid to produce some spirited tennis when required. He saved a match point in the final against Tomas Martin Etcheverry to win his maiden ATP singles title in Lyon in May. He upset Ben Shelton, another big server, at Queen’s last month.
The Frenchman eventually lost to Lorenzo Musetti in the fourth round in four sets, but despite the challenge, he stuck to his strength and nailed 10 aces. Clearly, there is enough in the 21-year-old to suggest that the world will be seeing a lot more of him in the future.
