Carlos Alcaraz made his Wimbledon debut in 2021.
Three-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz will start his title defense at Wimbledon 2024 Championships on Monday, July 1. The Spaniard’s campaign at the All England Lawn Tennis Club was memorable as he pulled off one of the biggest upsets by defeating seven-time champion Novak Djokovic in the final.
Moreover, he also won the 2024 French Open, adding another illustrious accolade to his trophy cabinet. Thus, while he’ll aim to win his second Wimbledon title, he would be eying a few new records. With that being said, let’s take a look at the five milestones Carlos Alcaraz can reach at Wimbledon 2024:
5. Become third youngest player to win two Wimbledon titles
Carlos Alcaraz has the golden opportunity to become only the third youngest player in tennis history to win the Wimbledon Championships twice. Alcaraz won his first Wimbledon title at the age of 20 and became the third youngest player to reach the feat. Thus, if he manages to defend the title, he’s become the third youngest player to reach the milestone after Boris Becker and Bjorn Borg.
4. Can become second Spanish player to win two Wimbledon titles
Spanish tennis players have dominated the French Open in the 21st century. However, the story has been utterly different at the Wimbledon Championships. Only Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz have won titles at the grass-court Grand Slam in the Open Era.
Moreover, only Nadal has managed to list the prestigious title twice (2008 and 2010). Thus, if Alcaraz defends his title, he’ll become only the second Spaniard in Wimbledon history to win two titles.
3. Become sixth player to complete a channel slam
Winning the French Open and the Wimbledon Championships back-to-back is known as a Channel Slam. The feat is difficult to attain because players have limited time to switch between different surfaces, namely, clay and grass. In the open era, only five men have managed to complete a surface slam: Rod Laver, Bjorn Borg, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic. Consequently, Alcaraz has a great chance to join the list.
2. Become only third player to defend Wimbledon title in the 21st century
Carlos Alcaraz will become only the third player in the 21st century to defend the prestigious Wimbledon title after Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic if he lifts the Wimbledon 2024 trophy. Federer and Djokovic have dominated the Grand Slam massively, with eight and seven tiles respectively.
Apart from the two, only Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray have won the Wimbledon title twice. Thus, the Spaniard has a decent opportunity to win his second grass court Major and defend the title.

1. Become third youngest player to win four Grand Slam titles
Carlos Alcaraz won the 2022 US Open by defeating Casper Ruud in the championship final. Next year, he scripted history by defeating 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic to win his maiden Wimbledon title. Earlier this month, he added another accolade to his trophy cabinet by winning the 2024 French Open.
With the win, he became the youngest male tennis player to complete a surface slam. The record was previously held by Rafael Nadal. Nevertheless, if Alcaraz manages to defend his title in London, he will become the third youngest player ATP star to win four Grand Slam titles. Carlos Alcaraz would be only behind Mats Wilander and Bjorn Borg on the list.
