Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will aim to complete a Channel Slam at Wimbledon.

It’s time for the top tennis players of the world to make a beeline for London, throw on their whites and indulge in some strawberries and cream. With Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner in the same half of the draw at Wimbledon 2024, a rematch of the Roland Garros semi-final from three weeks ago is very much on the cards.

Alcaraz will begin against Estonian qualifier Mark Lajal. Top-seeded Sinner is drawn against Yannick Hanfmann of Germany. Last year’s semifinalist, Daniil Medvedev will open the day’s proceedings against Aleksandar Kovacevic.

While it was touch and go for former champions Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray, they are finally on the starting line. Both players have had surgeries recently, Djokovic for his right knee and Murray on his hip.

Djokovic and Murray share space in the draw’s bottom half. The Serbian will open his campaign against Czech qualifier Vit Kopriva in his first game since his Roland Garros withdrawal.

Andy Murray is up against Tomas Machac in his opening round. A fourth-round face-off against Alex de Minaur and a round-of-eight meeting with Djokovic are possible scenarios for the Scotsman.

Projected men’s quarterfinals by seeding are Sinner (1) vs Medvedev (5), Alcaraz (3) vs Ruud (8), Rublev (6) vs Zverev (4), and Hurkacz (7) vs Djokovic (2). Projected women’s quarterfinals by seeding are Swiatek (1) vs Vondrousova (6), Rybakina (4) vs Pegula (5), Zheng (8) vs Sabalenka (3) and Paolini (7) vs Gauff (2).

Top-seeded Iga Swiatek is yet to find her way past the last eight at the All England Club. The Pole finds herself in the company of defending champion Marketa Vondrousova, 2022 champion Elena Rybakina and two-time finalist Ons Jabeur in the top of the draw.

Swiatek could potentially cross paths with 2018 Wimbledon champ Angelique Kerber in the third round, 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in the fourth round and Marketa Vondrousova in the last eight in her quest to reach the finals for the first time.

Iga Swiatek and Sofia Kenin are slated to meet for a third time in their first-round match-up. Other fixtures worth keeping on the radar would be those between 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu vs No. #22 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova, Diane Parry vs former World No. #1 Naomi Osaka, and 2017 US Open winner Sloane Stephens vs two-time Australian Open winner Victoria Azarenka.
