Jasmine Paolini’s Wuhan semi-final run pushed her ahead of Elena Rybakina in WTA rankings.
The conclusion of the final WTA Masters event at Wuhan Open 2025 has intensified the race for the last two spots in the year-end Riyadh Finals.
With Beijing Open winner Amanda Anisimova securing her qualification and Jessica Pegula performing strongly in Wuhan, only two places remain now.
The contenders are Mirra Andreeva, Jasmine Paolini, and Elena Rybakina. Paolini, ranked ninth before Wuhan, leapfrogged the Kazakh with her semifinal finish, as Rybakina fell in the quarterfinals to Sabalenka.
Andreeva’s recent form leaves her vulnerable, making the upcoming Ningbo Open is crucial in deciding the final qualifiers.
Coco Gauff’s triumph meant she solidified her position at #3, but Iga Swiatek continues to hold a significant lead at the #2 spot. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka continues to rule the ranking charts, despite being unable to defend her crown.
