Top five youngest men's singles players to win six Grand Slam titles

Borg is the youngest to win six Grand Slam titles.

Current World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz missed the opportunity to be featured second on this list, as he suffered his first final defeat to Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon 2025. Winning six Grand Slam trophies, the pinnacle of tennis success, before turning 25 is an early indicator of a future legend.

Interestingly, despite being a 24-time champion, Novak Djokovic started slowly in his early career, proving that greatness can also be built over time. However, achieving this milestone at such a young age remains a rare and remarkable feat, reserved for a select few in the history of men’s tennis.

Roger Federer – 24 years, 5 months, and 21 days

Roger Federer began his glorious reign at Wimbledon in 2003, before enjoying a stunning 2004 where he nearly completed a calendar Slam.

However, he lost the third round of Roland Garros, in what proved to be an otherwise splendid year. In 2005, the Swiss maestro completed a hat-trick of SW19 titles and clinched his sixth Grand Slam trophy by defending his US Open title.

Pete Sampras – 23 years, 10 months, and 27 days

Pete Sampras, who never captured the French Open title, was renowned for his speed and considered one of the greatest players on hard and grass courts. Nicknamed “Pistol Pete,” he claimed his first title at the 1990 US Open, and two years later added Wimbledon and another US Open crown.

In 1994, the American won the Australian Open and Wimbledon, his fourth and fifth Grand Slams, and returned the following year to defend his SW19 trophy for the third consecutive time.

Mats Wilander – 23 years, 2 months, 27 days

Mats Wilander had already reached six Grand Slam finals by the age of 20 years, 2 months, and 24 days. The Swedish icon triumphed in four of those six finals, with his most notable win at Roland Garros 1985.

After a two-year title drought, which included losses in the finals of both the French Open and US Open in 1987, Wilander rebounded strongly in 1988. Having missed a couple of Australian Open editions, he returned to form, capturing his third French Open crown and securing his sixth Grand Slam title overall.

The eventual 14-time French Open champion, Rafael Nadal, gave the world a glimpse of his talent and supremacy on clay, winning his very first tournament in Paris.

After winning four consecutive titles at Roland Garros between 2005 and 2008, the Spanish star’s fifth title came when he defeated five-time defending champion and arch-rival Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final, proving to be a match for the ages.

His sixth Grand Slam win came at the 2009 Australian Open, proving his ability on all surfaces, clay, grass, and hard courts.

Bjorn Borg – 22 years, 1 month, 3 days

The youngest player to win six men’s singles Grand Slam titles is Bjorn Borg. The Swede never faced an issue transitioning from clay to grass during the tour, completing three Channel Slams (the most by any player in history).

However, he also faced trouble on the hard surface. Out of his 11 Grand Slam singles titles, not a single one has come on a hard court, despite reaching the US Open finals four times.

Borg won his first singles Major title at the 1974 French Open, where he beat Spain’s Manuel Orantes. He defended his title next season and then won two Wimbledon titles in 1976 and 1977.

Returning to the Parisian clay, the former Swedish tennis star stunned defending champion Guillermo Vilas in the final to win his fifth Grand Slam title. His sixth Grand Slam win came that same year at Wimbledon 1978, completing his three-peat at SW19.
