Jieleiyisi Baergeng defeated Li Yunfeng by submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:25 of Round 2
The last battle of the first round of the Road to UFC tournament was an all-Chinese bantamweight matchup between returning participant Jieleiyisi Baergeng and Li Yunfeng of the Enbo Fight Club. Throughout the battle, Jieleiyisi tried hard to get Li on the canvas, knowing he had a significant edge there. Jieleiyisi took Li to the ground early in the second round and controlled from there, transitioning between dominant positions until settling on the back and securing the fight-ending choke late in the frame.

Kiru Singh Sahota defeated Yin Shuai by split decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
Yin relied on his wrestling in the early rounds, closing the gap and putting Singh Sahota on the canvas to stem the flow when the striking exchanges were not going his way. As the bout went, Singh Sahota did well to come back to his feet quickly and dominate the striking exchanges, hitting the most telling punches and forcing Yin to constantly attempt to change levels and keep the fight on the mat. When the scorecards were tallied, Singh Sahota came out on top in the split decision, progressing to the semifinals later this year to face Ruel Panales, who received a walkover when his opponent, Toki Matsui, failed to make weight.

Tokitaka Nakanishi defeated KyuSung Kim by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-27)
Tokitaka Nakanishi, a Japanese bantamweight, advanced to the semifinals by defeating Kyusung Kim via unanimous decision. While the two initially traded at range, Nakanishi eventually switched to the takedown and placed Kim on the canvas, controlling the rest of the round. Over the next two frames, he followed his corner’s guidance and began wrestling early, moving into dominant positions and putting an end to his South Korean opponent’s attacking ambitions.
Yan Qihui defeated Lisa Kyriacou by split decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
Yan, who lost to rising flyweight Karine Silva in Season 5 of the annual talent search show, was the more powerful and aggressive of the two on Sunday, pressing the action and regularly forcing it to the mat. While Kyriacou had some good moments standing, Yan was regularly able to stop her momentum by grabbing her hands on the Australian and dumping her on the deck. The judges were responsible for choosing the winner, and two of the three officials viewed the fight in Yan’s favor, awarded her all three rounds and the split decision win.
