India’s men’s volleyball team pulled off a big comeback at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, fighting back from 0-2 down to defeat Qatar in their last Pool C match. India won three sets in a row to take the match 3-2.
The trouble began in the first set. Qatar caught up at 23-23 and saved a set point to make it 24-24. India had two chances to close the set but could not take either. Qatar won the key points and took it 28-26.
The second set was close again. Qatar won 27-25 and moved 2-0 up. That left India one set away from defeat, and head coach Dragan Mihailović had a lot to think about.

The third set went India’s way, 25-23. In the fourth, they pulled clear and won 25-20 to make it 2-2. The match then went to a deciding fifth set. India held their nerve there and won it 24-22.

India scored 125 points in the match and Qatar scored 120, so only five points separated the two sides across five sets. Qatar won both of their sets by two points. India won the third and fifth sets by two points each and the fourth by five.
They had already beaten Vietnam 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-20) and Hong Kong China 3-0 (25-22, 25-19, 25-21).
