Is Finn Balor a WWE Grand Slam Champion?
Finn Balor is one of the most talented Irish professional wrestlers with great in-ring skills, athleticism and charismatic personality. Balor is widely popular even before his WWE run, as he is the founder of one of the most popular pro-wrestling factions “Bullet Club”.
Balor is considered as one of the most underrated wrestlers in the modern era, yet he became the Grand Slam Champion at Payback after capturing the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. He is the 17th Grand Slam Champion under current format and 24th Grand Slam Champion overall. To celebrate his monumental landmark, here we recall Balor’s journey to the Grand Slam Championship.
First-ever Universal Champion
Finn Balor was brought to Raw as a part of 2016 Superstar Shakeup and was given the push right away to the championship spotlight. He was inserted into the Universal Championship Tournament and became the first-ever Universal Champion by defeating Seth Rollins in the finals at SummerSlam. This is the first-ever championship win for Finn in the main roster, but his reign was cut short within 24 hours, due to shoulder injury.
Intercontinental Champion
Finn Balor won the Intercontinental Championship by defeating Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush in a 2-on-1 Handicap match at Elimination Chamber 2019. Balor pinned Lio Rush to become the Intercontinental Champion for the first time but lost the championship back to Bobby Lashley by ending the first reign in 22 days.
Balor "Demon King" again won the Intercontinental Championship from Lashley at WrestleMania 35. He held the championship on the second reign for 98 days and lost to Shinsuke Nakamura at the Kickoff Show of Extreme Rules.
United States Champion
Finn Balor won the United States Championship for the first time against Damien Priest on an episode of Raw in 2022. He held the title for 48 days and lost his championship to Austin Theory.
Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion
Finn Balor won the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion from Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn at the 2023 Payback with Damien Priest in a Steel City Street Fight Match. They won both Raw and SmackDown Championships and are the reigning Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions on their first reign.
A person who won four championships including three single's championships (one world title, two secondary titles and a tag team title) will be crowned as a Grand Slam Champion. Thus Balor became the 17th Grand Slam Champion based on the current format and 24th Grand Slam Champion on the overall format.
