John Cena expected to appear at WWE Payback: Rumors
John Cena will return to WWE this Friday Night on SmackDown in Hershey, Pennsylvania, for the first time since Money in the Bank at London. As announced earlier, Cena is expected to have a segment with the mic on SmackDown and is booked to have a tag team match at SuperStar Spectacle in India.
Cena's schedule was then elaborated to a full time role and is scheduled to appear for seven weeks straight to Friday Night SmackDown from September 15 to October 27. In which Cena was not scheduled to appear in a single pay-per-view (premium live event). At this stage, John Cena's role for Payback has been rumored around the world of wrestling.

Ahead of Cena's return to Friday Night SmackDown, Wrestling Votes tweeted on X (Twitter) that there are backstage rumors that John Cena will be the special guest host of the 2023 Payback.
Since Cena is returning a day before the pay-per-view on SmackDown at Pennsylvania, where the Payback is held, he is most likely to play the Guest Host for the show.

If Cena plays the special guest host role at Payback 2023, he might likely open the show or might be involved in a segment to address the WWE Universe. He will likely start his Make-A-Wish campaign at Payback, as he is rumored to host the campaign simultaneously with his appearance at SmackDown. Cena has fulfilled the wish of more than thousand of child with "Make A Wish" since his debut in WWE.
