Booking Cody Rhodes’ story back to WWE WrestleMania 40 Main Event

Since Cody Rhodes returned to WWE in 2022, he has been talking about finishing the storyline. He said that his father “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes always had a dream of being the World Champion in WWE, but he wasn’t able to win one. However, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes promised that he would fulfil his father’s dream, by becoming the first world champion from the Rhodes family. 

He said that he has eyes on the World Champion and would chase the championship. However he struck with Seth Rollins in a long-term feud and was hindered by injury in the first year of his return, as he tore his pectoral muscle and went on hiatus. 

Cody however cleared his medical conditions, entered the 2023 Royal Rumble as the 30th entrant and won, to get back on track to finish the storyline. He challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39 but was unsuccessful after a hard fought fight.

After losing his only title shot against Reigns, he didn’t fall on track, as he went to a big rivalry with “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar. Rhodes is now sorting out his way to get back on track to complete the story. We are here with a pitch to book Cody Rhodes’ story back to Roman Reigns and main event of Wrestlemania 40.

Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso winning the Tag Team Titles

Judgment Day is set to appear on the final episode of SmackDown before their championship defense at Fastlane. Cody Rhodes announced on Raw that he and Jey Uso would also be on SmackDown. This could be a tease to bring both Cody and Jey to the blue brand, which is the den of their rivals “The Bloodline”.

At Fastlane, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso will win the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships and they would be free to appear on both the brands without restrictions. They would defend the tag team titles from The Judgment Day and end their feud in the Red brand.

Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso vs Solo Sikoa & Jimmy Uso for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team titles

Roman Reigns is all set to return to SmackDown on the October 13 episode of SmackDown, where he might order Jimmy & Solo to get the tag team golds back in The Bloodline. Which could make Jimmy & Solo challenge Cody & Jey for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship at Crown Jewel. Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso will retain their championship title, but will be assaulted by The Bloodline in the following weeks. Cody Rhodes could be injured in the assault resulting in forfeiting the Tag Team Titles.

Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Tournament

After forfeiting the titles, Jey Uso will be forced by The Bloodline to join them, as Jimmy & Jey could once again work together by entering the Tag Team Championship Tournament. Jey would neglect the offer and enter the tournament with Sami Zayn. Sami Jey and Sami would face Solo and Jimmy at the semi-finals, with Roman Reigns on the ring side. Where Reigns would try to assist Solo and Jimmy for the win, but would be countered by returning Cody Rhodes. Jey Uso and Sami will use the opportunity and defeat Solo Sikoa & Jimmy Uso.

Sami Zayn and Jey Uso would face The Street Profits at the finals of the tournament, where Jimmy & Solo interfere to cost them their match. Where Street Profits will become the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions. This could take The Bloodline and the people involved with the storyline away from the championship shadow.

Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn & Jey Uso vs The Bloodline

Cody Rhodes, Sami Zayn & Jey Uso would enter into the feud with The Bloodline once again, resulting in a Six-Man Tag Team Survivor Series Elimination Chamber match at Survivor Series. Where Roman Reigns will be pinned by Cody Rhodes, as Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes become the survivors.

Tension within The Bloodline

Roman Reigns will lose his mind after his loss and would start yelling Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. Tribal Court will be held the following week to find the weak link in The Bloodline, where Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa will be put into trial. Cody Rhodes could interfere with the Tribal Court, asking for a championship match for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, as he pinned him at Survivor Series. Where Roman Reigns will decline and would ask him to earn the championship opportunity.

Royal Rumble

As Roman Reigns declined his challenge, Cody Rhodes would promise the WWE Universe that he would win the Royal Rumble once again challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40.

Cody would be entering the Royal Rumble as the favorite to win the match. He would enter as the first entrant and could stand until the final four, where Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso would interfere and eliminate Cody Rhodes. However the eventual winner would challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship, making Roman Reigns' opponent free.

Solo Sikoa turns on Roman Reigns 

Cody Rhodes learns that, as long as Roman Reigns is backed up by his cousins, he would not be able to finish the storyline. Therefore Cody Rhodes & Jey Uso would try to create a heat between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoribal Chiefa, stating the Sikoa is the actual T. Solo Sikoa at one point, would turn on Roman Reigns and could claim himself as “The Tribal Chief”. Sikoa would challenge Roman Reigns for the Tribal Combat match at Elimination Chamber.

#1 Contender’s Elimination Chamber Match

At the same time, #1 Contender Elimination Chamber Match would be announced for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, where Cody Rhodes will be qualified for the match.

Elimination Chamber 2024 [Cody earns #1 Contender, The Rock returns]

Cody Rhodes will win the Elimination Chamber match and become the #1 Contender to face Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40.

On the other hand, Solo Sikoa will be backed by Jey Uso and Roman Reigns will be backed by Jimmy Uso in the Tribal Combat Match. The match would end in a brutal warfare, where Roman Reigns will win the match. However Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso will elevate their feud to a whole new level. After the match, Roman Reigns will stand tall and will ask for the “Acknowledgement” for The Tribal Chief, where The Rock would return and confront Roman Reigns claiming that he is the “Real Tribal Chief”.

Roman Reigns vs Rock? Or Cody Rhodes?

On the following week of SmackDown, Roman Reigns would be confronted by both Cody Rhodes and The Rock. The SmackDown would continue for weeks in a confusion, who would face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. As there is an increasing confusion, the “King of Kings” Triple H would walk in and announce that Roman Reigns would face both at WrestleMania 40. Where Roman Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes on Night 1 & Roman Reigns will defend his “Tribal Chief” status against The Rock on Night 2.

WrestleMania 40- Night 1

Roman Reigns will have a tough fight against Cody Rhodes, where Reigns would encounter Boomerang by some of the previous opponents, who he defeated in a controversial way, including Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and so on. Cody Rhodes will end Roman Reigns monumental title Reign by becoming the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion for the first time and thereby complete the story.

WrestleMania 40- Night 2

The most awaited match for a decade will finally take place at WrestleMania Night 1, where all the members of the Bloodline would be involved in the match against Roman Reigns. The Rock will win the match and become “The Forever Tribal Chief”. Making it one of the greatest WrestleMania of all time.
