Who could face Seth Rollins at WWE WrestleMania 40 after CM Punk’s injury?

CM Punk made his WWE in-ring television return at WWE Royal Rumble by entering the men’s Royal Rumble match. Punk entered at #27 and he was one of the favorites to win the match and headline WrestleMania 40. Punk made his way to the final two and delivered a tough fight in the final minutes of the match. However came short as Cody Rhodes threw him over the top rope and won back-to-back Royal Rumble matches to make history.

CM Punk to miss WrestleMania following Injury

Punk opened the fallout episode of Raw with braced arm support and revealed that he had torn his right tricep muscle at the Royal Rumble match 48 hours ago. He asked Doctor’s whether he could manage to make it up to at least the Elimination Chamber with tape on, but Doctors advised him not to wrestle with the same condition. CM Punk said that it is his hard luck that he could not fulfil his dream to main event WrestleMania.

PWInsider reported that, “CM Punk suffered a torn triceps during the Men’s Royal Rumble match and is believed to be heading towards surgery after an appearance on tonight’s WWE RAW in Tampa. The belief among sources we have spoken with is that post-surgery, CM Punk would likely need in the area of 4-6 months of recovery and physical therapy.”

Backstage rumors since CM Punk’s return were speculated that CM Punk vs Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship could be the potential match at WWE WrestleMania. Since Punk could not make it to WrestleMania as of current report, who could face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40?

On the most recent episode of Raw, Cody Rhodes was about to announce which champion he would be picking up to main event WrestleMania. Where Seth Rollins confronted him and almost brainwashed him to pick him. Cody’s story is to finish the story by becoming the world title, not the universal title in particular. This made Cody confused and delayed his decision.

Cody could be the one who could challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. This could also help the most anticipated match between Roman Reigns and The Rock to occur at WrestleMania 40.

LA Knight is one of the most popular and the fastest-rising stars, who is expected to be World Champion by this year. The Longest reigning Intercontinental Champion Gunther confronted Seth Rollins before the Royal Rumble and said that he was the one Rollins should have his eyes on, as he would be coming after the title after winning the Royal Rumble. Although Gunther lost the rumble match, the opposite spot is vacant and he has all the potential to challenge Seth. Gunther vs Seth Rollins in a Winner Takes All match could be a great WrestleMania card. As no one in the history has ever hold both the Intercontinental Championship and World Heavyweight Championship at the same time.
