MITB is one of the most anticipated PLEs in WWE!

Money in the Bank is one of the most anticipated pay-per-views throughout the year, Fans always look forward to the exciting ladder match and which superstars can get their hands on the briefcase that year.

Winning the Money in the Bank briefcase guarantees a title opportunity for the superstar who won the ladder match. History shows that most of the superstars win the title after cashing in the MITB contract. Let’s look at all the failed Money in the Bank Cash-ins in WWE history.

5. John Cena – 2012

Oddly enough, the first to fail to cash in the Money in the Bank contract is John Cena. During his feud with CM Punk, Cena called his shot and challenged Punk on RAW 1000 on July 23, 2012. The match ended in a disqualification win for Cena due to Big Show’s interference, but Cena failed to win the WWE Championship, making him the first to cash in unsuccessfully.

Sandow became the first to lose his cash-in attempt outright, adding to a series of missed opportunities in his WWE career.

At WWE TLC, The Miz turned the TLC match between AJ Styles and Drew McIntyre into a Triple Threat but failed to win the WWE Championship.
