CM Punk has been a part of some great matches at WWE’s biggest party of the summer.

CM Punk has been one of the most remarkable WWE superstars of all time, known for his verbal barrage, in-ring acumen and captivating persona. In regard to the upcoming WWE PLE, SummerSlam, The Second City Saint has been a part of some stellar showdowns in the history of the show.

With the possibility of making his return to The Biggest Party of the Summer this year, let’s take a look back at CM Punk’s all-time SummerSlam PLE record.

SummerSlam 2007

CM Punk made his SummerSlam debut at the 2007 edition in a huge ECW World Championship match against the reigning champion, John Morrison. The duo had been feuding for some time, and their rivalry etched a spectacular match for SummerSlam. Despite his valiant efforts, Punk failed to capture Morrison’s title after his previous attempts.

SummerSlam 2008

A year after his debut at SummerSlam, CM Punk walked into the 2008 edition as the reigning World Heavyweight Champion. The future Best in the World was slated to defend his title against the ‘Wrestling God’ John Bradshaw Layfield. Punk put up a strong fight against Layfield and walked out of SummerSlam, retaining his World Championship.

SummerSlam 2009

The intense rivalry going into the WWE SummerSlam 2009 edition saw CM Punk battle Jeff Hardy for his World Heavyweight Champion in a match that favoured Hardy, i.e. a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match. Despite the surroundings against him, a swift kick at the top of the ladder cleared the way for Punk to unhook the title and became champion for the third time in his career.

SummerSlam 2010

CM Punk and his infamous Straight Edge Society members, Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury, collided against The Big Show in a 3-on-1 handicap match. Punk’s team had the numbers advantage, but Big Show had the raw power and strength which led to him scoring a double pinfall over both Mercury and Gallows, while Punk retreated from the ring with the other member, Serena Deeb.

SummerSlam 2011

A high-stakes ‘Champion vs Champion’ match was scheduled between John Cena and CM Punk to crown the Undisputed WWE Champion, with Triple H overlooking the proceedings as a special Guest Referee. Punk won the match despite Cena’s foot being on the rope. However, his victory did not last long, as a post-match attack by Kevin Nash and Money in the Bank cash-in by Alberto Del Rio led to Punk losing the title in the process.

SummerSlam 2012

CM Punk walked into the 2023 WWE SummerSlam show as the reigning WWE Champion. He was set to defend his title against John Cena and Big Show in a triple-threat match. Following a hard-fought battle, Punk capitalized on Cena nailing Show with his finisher, the AA, by pushing him aside and clinching the pinfall to retain his title.

However, he would fall prey to Brock Lesnar who hit a thunderous F-5 to score the pinfall.

SummerSlam 2024

Punk locked horns with Drew McIntyre in a singles match where Seth Rollins was the guest referee. Punk suffered defeat in the meeting between the two, who went on to deliver two more iconic matches in their storyline which was voted feud of the year in 2024.

SummerSlam 2025

The Second City Saint locked horns with Gunther in the main event of Night 1 of SummerSlam 2025. The World Heavyweight title was on the line for the clash. Punk defeated Gunther in a hard-fought battle to capture the world title after 12 years.

However, the celebration ended shortly as Seth Rollins made his return, revealing that the injury was a hoax and cashing in the MITB contract to defeat Punk and capture the title.
