Cody Rhodes wants to see Conor McGregor in the WWE
The former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight champion, Conor McGregor is famous for his war of words with WWE stars on social media. However, he has recently responded positively to Cody Rhodes’ comments in an interview.
Many fans and pundits have believed that the UFC megastar would make a great WWE star. His brassy persona coupled with his popularity and his on-mic skills would make him a great fit in the world of pro wrestling. This sentiment is shared by the Undisputed WWE champion as well.
Rhodes is currently scheduled to face the WWE Heavyweight Champion Gunther in a ‘Champion vs Champion’ fight at Crown Jewel 2024 PLE for the inaugural Crown Jewel title.
While McGregor has been absent from the octagon since his last fight at UFC 264 in 2021. He suffered a leg injury that forced him out of action.
He was scheduled to make his return this June against Michael Chandler but pulled out of the fight due to an injury. The former UFC champion is currently planning to make his UFC return next year.
Conor McGregor expressed his gratitude for Cody Rhodes
During a recent segment with MMA media personality The Schmo, Rhodes sampled McGregor’s whiskey brand, Proper Twelve. After taking a sip, Rhodes described it as having a “classy” flavor.
The two also sat down for an interview, during the interview, Cody talked about how seamlessly McGregor would adapt to the WWE atmosphere. “One I’d love to see dip his toes into the water with WWE would be Conor, Just to dip his toes. The competition, environment at WWE, the competition is different than what you might think.”
After viewing the clip on social media, where Rhodes included McGregor on his Mount Rushmore of MMA fighters, and complemented his whiskey brand, the former UFC champion looked pleased as he expressed his gratitude for the WWE Champion on Twitter (X) and hinted at a potential future meeting.
“The Schmo and the undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes enjoying themselves some smooth @ProperWhiskey! CLASS PERSONIFIED! Love it, Cody, see you soon.” The Irishman tweeted.
McGregor has engaged in a war of words previously with many WWE stars including Roman Reigns but nothing materialized. However, with WWE and UFC merging under the TKO Group banner, the opportunities for UFC stars to crossover into WWE have never been greater.
