AJ Lee’s return to WWE is now looking like a possibility
AJ Lee is credited with being a pioneer of the wrestling business. In an era of Divas with no significant opportunities for women, Lee was being featured in main event storylines and also won multiple titles. However, in 2015, she shocked the world by announcing her retirement from the ring.
Even after her husband, CM Punk, returned to the company in 2023, Lee has chosen to stay away from wrestling. However, in light of recent events, here are five signs that are pointing towards the grand return of the former WWE Divas Champion:
5. Roxanne Perez’s encounter with CM Punk
On the recent WWE overseas tour, the fans saw Roxanne Perez take down CM Punk and then tweeted to his wife, AJ Lee.
The Black Widow responded to her wrestling daughter, which was a rare occasion, which could be seen as a sign of a possible return to WWE.
4. CM Punk sees an AJ Lee fan sign
CM Punk had been a major part of WWE’s European tour and encountered various passionate fans leading up to Clash in Paris.
During one of those instances, he took full notice of a fan sign calling for AJ Lee’s return after Clash in Paris ended, something Punk had not done before.
3. Seth Rollins namedrops CM Punk’s family
In the main event of WWE Clash in Paris 2025, Seth Rollins defended his World Heavyweight Championship in a Fatal 4-Way match that involved CM Punk.
The bout’s final moments saw Punk and Rollins fight it out alone in the ring. At that point, Rollins said, “I hate you, I hate your stupid family”, referencing his wife, AJ Lee, which was a huge sign for her foreseeable return to the company.
2. Becky Lynch’s attack at WWE Clash in Paris
In the same Fatal 4-Way match, CM Punk was closing in on the victory over Seth Rollins. However, a hooded figure took him down with a low blow, who was later revealed to be Rollins’ wife, Becky Lynch, who helped him retain his World title.
Lynch’s involvement in their feud is a major hint pointing towards AJ Lee’s return to WWE to side with her husband for a blockbuster feud.
1. Big E mentioned AJ Lee’s return
Following the aftermath of the Fatal 4-Way, analyst and AJ Lee’s former cohort, Big E, stated at the WWE Clash in Paris post-show that Lee should return to side with CM Punk to battle Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins.
A statement on live television coming from one of AJ Lee’s close friends was a huge hint for her comeback to the company.
