“The Empress of Tomorrow” will be out of action for sometime

Asuka is one of the best professional wrestlers of the modern era, who is a member of the Damage CTRL. Asuka has been in WWE since 2015 and has been playing a major role in the women’s roster. She is a nine-time champion and has been involved in a number of interesting storylines.

Asuka & Kairi Sane recently defended their WWE Tag Team Championship against Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill and lost the title in the mix. Following that she was scheduled to compete against Lyra Valkyria in the first round of the Queen of the Ring tournament on the May 6, 2024 episode of Raw.

However, Dakota Kai of Damage CTRL announced that The Empress is not medically cleared to compete. Kai replaced her in the tournament but lost to Lyra Valkyria in the first round. Now a major backstage update on Asuka has been released.

Asuka is ‘legitimately injured’

Following the announcement, Corey Brennan of Fightful reported that Asuka has suffered a legitimate injury. The report also noted that she was also present backstage at Raw this week.

Fightful report, “Asuka’s injury is legitimate. Corey Brennan of Fightful heard that she was at the show.”

Earlier this year on the road to WrestleMania 40, she had an injury scare during the SmackDown taping, where she was limping with her knee, but she luckily escaped from it. However she is now dealing with a legitimate injury. However, it is still not known how long it will take for ‘The Empress’ to make her return for the in-ring competition.

Nia Jax praised Asuka for working with the injury

Nia Jax further provided details on X retweeting a fan’s post of, “Could barely walk. Wrestled for 17 minutes. One of the best matches of the night. I don’t care what anyone says. She was the MVP of Backlash.” To which Jax said, “True story. One of the toughest humans I have ever met. Love @WWEAsuka for doing everything and working through all her pain with a smile on her face and never ever complaining.”

Jax continued saying, “Also, has been working live events and TV every single week in pain. Traveling the world with brutal flights and bus rides, and gave 1000 percent every night for the fans! @WWEAsuka is the best!!!”
