WWE SmackDown (August 1, 2025): Damian Priest vs Aleister Black, John Cena to appear; SummerSlam build-up & more set for next week

The Tag titles were contested in the main event of the July 25 episode!
The July 25 edition of Friday Night SmackDown aired live from the Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. The show kicked off with a ten-bell tribute to WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, who passed away on Thursday. WWE also paid homage to the legend in a seven-minute-long video narrated by Triple H.
Roxanne Perez pinned Alexa Bliss in the first match of the July 25 show, while Jade Cargill defeated Chelsea Green in an impromptu match.
Jacob Fatu defeated The Miz in a singles match but was attacked afterwards by Solo Sikoa and his MFT (JC Mateo, Talla Tonga & Tonga Loa). In the main event of the show, The Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis) defended the WWE Tag titles against Andrade & Rey Fenix.
However, the match ended in disqualification as a brawl erupted involving the entire tag division. GM Nick Aldis then announced a six-pack tables, ladders, and chairs match involving DIY, MCMG, The Street Profits, and Fraxiom, with the Tag titles on the line.
John Cena and Cody Rhodes will meet for the final time
During the July 25 episode, WWE announced multiple matches and segments for next week’s show, which will serve as the go-home show for SummerSlam 2025. The August 1 episode of WWE SmackDown is set to air live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Damian Priest and Aliester Black will clash in a singles match on the go-home show, while Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena is set to make an appearance ahead of the title rematch against Cody Rhodes.
Women’s United States Champion Giulia is set to defend the title in a rematch against Zelina Vega, as announced this week by Giulia’s official representative, Kiana James.
Additionally, AAA World Tag Team Champions Los Garza (Angel & Berto) are set to issue an open challenge to any team willing to face them for their titles next week on SmackDown.
