The G.O.A.T. of pro-wrestling will hang up his wrestling boots at the end of 2025!
After defeating Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 41 on Sunday, John Cena created history as he broke the tie with Ric Flair to become the one and only 17-time WWE World Champion.
However, However, before the title win sunk in, a familiar opponent struck Cena, as his career-long rival, Randy Orton, took down the Champion with the RKO and challenged him to a title clash in his backyard, St. Louis, on May 10th.
Cena defended the title for the first time against Orton at Backlash, which was his 12th appearance this year. The 17-time World Champion now has a total of 24 dates left, and these are not matches but appearances. Following WWE Backlash, here is Khel Now predicting John Cena’s final matches in WWE.
Saturday Night’s Main Event (May 24)- vs R-Truth
John Cena put Truth through a table during the Backlash post-show press conference last Saturday, despite Truth having helped him during the match. This betrayal, along with multiple reports suggesting a clash between the two at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event, is likely in the books for Cena’s next match in the promotion.

SummerSlam – Tag Team match
The 2025 edition of SummerSlam is set for August 2, 2025, and August 3, 2025, in New Jersey. The former Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes is set to make his return on the May 16 episode of SmackDown, likely calling out Cena. However, the promotion will likely draw out the feud, and we might get a tag team match between the team of Cena and Travis Scott vs Cody Rhodes and Bad Bunny.
Reports already suggest Scott is training with Booker T for his in-ring debut and has a history with Rhodes since their altercation at the Elimination Chamber. Scott also helped Cena during WrestleMania 41, Rhodes could team up with Bad Bunny, who has previously competed in the WWE, to battle Cena and Scott.
Clash in Paris – vs AJ Styles
Clash in Paris is scheduled for August 31, 2025, and will air live from the Paris La Défense Arena in Nanterre, France. The 17-time World Champion is in his final run, and fans, especially millennials fans won’t be able to see him again inside the squared circle. A clash between him and AJ Styles would be an amazing matchup for fans.
The two veterans will surely put up an amazing performance, and with the Paris crowd behind them, it would be reminiscent of last year’s Backlash PLE, where Cody and Styles battled in Nice, France, and the crowd was roaring throughout the PLE. The match would also represent WWE vs TNA, as Styles was the face of TNA Wrestling for years, while Cena has long been the face of WWE.

Crown Jewel – vs CM Punk
The 2025 edition of Crown Jewel will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia, Australia. This is the first Crown Jewel to be held outside of Saudi Arabia as all previous Crown Jewel events were held in the country’s capital of Riyadh.
Similar to the fans’ demand to see John Cena and Randy Orton wrestle before the 17-time World Champion calls it a career, fans have also been demanding to see him revive his feud with ‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk.
The Second City Saint himself, in an interview with Tudum by Netflix, stated that he wants to be a part of Cena’s farewell tour in any way possible. A dream matchup between the two legends will be a treat for fans who have seen them wrestle during their childhood.
Saturday Night’s Main Event (December) – vs Cody Rhodes
According to Boston’s WCVB news station, John Cena’s final match is scheduled to take place in the city this December.
“John Cena’s last match is scheduled for December at the TD Garden in Boston.” Reporter Shayna Seymour stated.
However, the report didn’t contain any specified date in December, meanwhile, Cory Hays of PW Nexus previously reported that there is a Saturday Night’s Main Event planned for TD Garden on December 13.
The final match will likely be a rematch against Cody Rhodes at the December edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, as no other PLE is scheduled for the month. The match would be a passing of the torch moment, with Rhodes likely regaining the title and Cena bidding farewell to the WWE Universe in front of his home crowd in Massachusetts.
