Damian Priest’s frustration with R-Truth
R-Truth and Damian Priest developed a partnership that eventually saw them capture the WWE Tag Team Championship in March 2026. They held the titles for 147 days before losing them to Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga in August.
Their alliance then fell apart after they failed to win the AAA World Tag Team Championship from the War Raiders on SmackDown in September. Priest turned on Truth, setting up their personal rivalry. The two finally faced each other in singles competition on the October 16 episode of SmackDown.

Though Priest had the better of the contest, the match came to an abrupt end after Truth gave a top-rope dropkick and stayed down on the mat. The referee checked on Priest before calling off the match, raising concern about whether or not the injury was legitimate.
While the injury of R-Truth worried the audience, earlier it was revealed that the star will undergo further evaluation. Now, the veteran star has a positive update. The wrestler, who is 54 years old, took to his social media on October 19 to assure people that he was fine following the injury he received during his match against Damian Priest.
While there is no information about the type and seriousness of the injury, Truth also stated that he plans on making a return to the ring.
Truth took to X on October 19 to update fans that he was doing fine, and thanked everyone for their concern and good wishes. Truth also made a humorous note on Priest, saying he “almost passed away” and that Priest “was trying to kill him”. He even boldly added that he will go for missile dropkick again – the move that caused the injury.
What can R-Truth do upon his return to WWE?
The latest update about Truth gives hope that things might go well soon, although it does not reveal his actual return to in-ring activity. The first thing that Truth needs to do is get through his medical examination and get cleared in order to continue wrestling.
In 2023, Truth sustained a torn quadriceps, which forced him to undergo surgery and suffer from an infection afterward, which kept him out of WWE for quite some time.
From the storyline perspective, it could be good for WWE to further develop a storyline between Truth and Priest. They were partners in the past and had a championship win together, which provides a personal connection between them, and their feud could be started on the basis of this storyline.
WWE could develop this storyline in a way that Truth will have a chance to get back at Priest for breaking up. Truth’s combination of humor and experience allows him to play an interesting character for both singles and tag team storylines. Nevertheless, WWE has not provided information about the return date yet.

There is no official date announced for R-Truth’s return, as the wrestler is yet to get medical clearance.
