The Samoan Werewolf will defend the US title for the first time next week!

‘The Samaon Wereworlf’ Jacob Fatu followed on his word and brought the United States Championship to his family after defeating LA Knight at WrestleMania 41 (Saturday) to capture his first singles title in the Stamford-based promotion.

After a dominant showing, Fatu is now set to battle in a fatal four-way match against LA Knight, Drew McIntyre, and Damian Priest at the upcoming Backlash PLE, which is set for May 10. While many fans thought that Fatu would battle Knight in a rematch, the tease last week made it seemingly clear, as we at Khel Now also predicted, that GM Nick Aldis would announce a fatal four-way match for the PLE on 05/02 SmackDown.

Here we take a look at the top three reasons why Jacob Fatu defending the US title in a fatal four-way match at Backlash 2025 is better than him defending it in a singles match.

3. Momentum

Fatu has been on a steep rise in recent times, not just growing out of Solo Sikoa‘s shadow but surpassing him and now being in control of the duo dynamic. Fans also shower immense love on Fatu whenever he comes out, and his winning the title at the ‘Grandest Stage’ WrestleMania, followed by a title defense at a Premium Live Event like Backlash, will only further his stardom.

2. Solidify his title reign

Fatu has already made it clear that he doesn’t care who he defends the title against at the PLE. While the fatal four-way match may seem odd at first due to the limited build-up, it presents a valuable learning experience for Fatu and a chance to solidify his title reign, especially if he manages to overcome three established top stars like LA Knight, Drew McIntyre, and Damian Priest.

1. Physicality & in-ring ability

Fatu’s mantra of “All gas no brakes” aligns with his performances as he is an unstoppable force inside the ring, who bounces back despite taking massive hits. Jacob has already dominated every exchange involving any of the three stars, even when they’re together, which is why a fatal four-way title defense sounds apt as it further solidifies his character and persona among WWE fans.
