The Megastar will compete in the finals this Friday!

‘The Megastar’ LA Knight pinned Jey Uso in the semi-finals of the tournament to decide John Cena‘s final opponent. With the win, he secured his spot in the finals of the tournament.

On the other hand, during the same December 1 show of Raw, Gunther defeated Solo Sikoa to secure his spot in the finals. The two stars will battle in the upcoming December 5 episode of SmackDown to decide which star faces Cena in his final match at the December 13 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C.

Ahead of the clash, let us take a look at the four reasons why Knight should win the finals against Gunther to face Cena in his final match.

4. Massive fan support

Despite WWE’s apparent hesitation in pushing LA Knight, fans have consistently voiced their support, advocating for him to be featured in the main event scene and positioned for a World title run. He was scheduled to participate in the men’s WarGames match, but the plans were scrapped for some reason.

Knight pinning Jey Uso, someone who has been heavily favored by the Creative team in 2025, might be the start of a major push for him, signaling a shift and possibly paving the way for him to rise to the top.

3. Incredible mic skills and presence

Similar to John Cena, Knight is also known for his on-mic skills, cold disses, and his ability to hype up big moments. Knight has the ability to control and guide the crowd even during matches, without the mic. Coupled with his in-ring skills, Knight can become one of the top stars in the promotion.

While Knight may not get any promo time with Cena, even if he wins the finals, it’s because Cena’s only remaining appearance will be for his retirement match; however, a win over the G.O.A.T. would still do wonders for his career.

2. Passing of the torch moment

Knight winning the tournament would signify the passing of the torch moment. Similar to Cena, Knight is a massively over-babyface among fans. Gunther got the chance to face Goldberg in his retirement match, where he defeated the Hall of Famer to continue his dominant run.

There have been reports of WWE insiders not liking the idea of John Cena facing Gunther in his retirement match. Knight can be the perfect opponent for Cena, putting him over in his final match could play a pivotal role in elevating Knight to the top tier. Despite reports of WWE not being too keen to push Knight, they should reconsider giving him a well-deserved push.

1. World title dream

Gunther has enjoyed massive dominating title reigns, including the World Heavyweight and Intercontinental titles. Knight has only captured the United States title twice, with his first title reign being a decent one.

A win over Gunther and then Cena would help Knight make a case to fight for the World title. Knight has already proven to stand on solid footing as the current Champions, and reviving his feud with CM Punk would create some must-see TV.

How will John Cena’s final opponent be decided?

His opponent will be chosen through a 16-man tournament involving stars from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and outside promotions.

When and where will the finals of the tournament take place?

Gunther and LA Knight will battle in the finals of the tournament, which is set for the December 5 episode of SmackDown.
