The Eradicator will defend the title at the Frost Bank Center

‘The Eradicator’ Rhea Ripley recently finished her feud with Liv Morgan when she defeated Morgan in the historic debut episode of Monday Night Raw on Netflix and captured the Women’s World title.

This kicked off her second title reign, her first title reign abruptly ended when a backstage attack by Morgan forced her out of action and she had to relinquish the title. Ripley vacated the title ending her reign at 380 days, she is tied with Bayley as the longest-reigning Women’s World Champion.

On the 01/20 episode of Monday Night Raw, Ripley was attacked backstage during her arrival by Nia Jax. This unprovoked attack irked her and she retaliated later in the show kicking off a brawl between the two. Rhea ultimately picked up the mic and declared a clash between the two for Saturday Night’s Main Event where her title will be on the line.

Ahead of the title clash this Saturday, let us take a look at the three reasons why Ripley must win in her first title defense on January 25 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.

3. Lack of build-up

One of the most bizarre things about the matchup was its setup and the lack of buildup behind it. The promotion didn’t explain why Nia attacked Ripley or why Rhea herself put the title on the line for SNME.

Nia recently lost the WWE Women’s Championship at the hands of her friend Tiffany Stratton, where she was betrayed. However, instead of plotting her revenge or demanding a rematch, Jax has seemingly shifted to Raw and is now feuding with Ripley. If Ripley loses the title despite the lack of buildup it will hinder her momentum and destroy everything that she worked so hard to build.

2. Storyline Continuation

The Eradicator finally won back the title after almost seven months of feuding and has started her second title reign. Ripley is arguably one of the biggest stars in the women’s division as well as in the promotion and winning the title after such a long build-up followed by a triumph that was marked by the celebration alongside WWE legend, the Undertaker would be devastating thing.

Ripley needs to prove her metal once again and defeat one of the most ruthless forces in the women’s division. The win would help her continue the title reign and ultimately headline the grandest stage in April.

1. Establishing dominance

In her first title defense, Ripley defended the title ten times against tough opponents which included multiple former champions including Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair as well as Nia Jax. A second win against Nia will help her record as a title defense against a former multi-time champion is not an easy task.

Similar to the current World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, Ripley too has shown dominance as a champion and she would want to break her own record as well as the tie with Bayley and become the longest-reigning Women’s World Champion. Ripley must defeat Jax this Saturday to settle the dispute and exact her revenge for the unprovoked attack.
