Jey Uso is the current No.1 contender for Bron Breakker’s WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Jey Uso’s popularity and in-ring talent earned him a huge opportunity after he outlasted an array of top WWE superstars in the WWE Intercontinental Championship No. 1 Contender tournament on RAW and is slated to face the champion, Bron Breaker, for the title next week.

However, many have wondered why this blockbuster showdown is taking place weeks before WWE‘s upcoming PLE, Bad Blood, considering their family legacies and star power. Here are the top five reasons for the match not taking place at WWE Bad Blood:

5. Keeping Jey away from the Bloodline storyline

WWE not booking Jey Uso’s match for Bad Blood could be a strategic move to keep him away from the ongoing Bloodline storyline. The event will see Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes battle Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu in a tag team match, and WWE might be keeping him away from it to set up his involvement as WWE Survivor Series would draw close for the rumoured OG vs New Bloodline match.

4. Main event match for RAW

The title match between Jey and Bron Breakker is worthy of a main event showdown, citing their popularity, heated feud and rich family lineage. With the Bad Blood card and main event set in stone, WWE moving the match to RAW could be a strategic move to preserve its worth as a headliner match for their flagship show.

3. WWE following a similar pattern for secondary titles

As seen for the last few WWE Premium Live Events, the management has been following a pattern of not booking their secondary titles, i.e. the WWE Intercontinental and United States championships, on the main PLE card. Jey Uso and Bron Breakker’s match not being a part of WWE Bad Blood could just be a part of that strategy despite the potential and star power in their bout.

2. Fan Favorite

WWE slating Jey Uso‘s match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship on RAW could be a move to capitalize on his popularity witnessed each week on the red brand. With WWE Bad Blood already featuring an array of top-tier WWE superstars, the backstage personnel might have wanted to score the ratings with Jey Uso in the main event of RAW rather than Bad Blood.

1. Book Jey’s loss at RAW instead of a PLE

As WWE is in the process of building Bron Breakker as their next top star, it seems that he would have a lengthy WWE Intercontinental Championship reign. This would mean that Jey Uso would potentially lose to Breakker, and WWE might have wanted to take less damage on his loss by booking it to happen on RAW rather than a PLE show like Bad Blood.
