After winning the 2026 men’s Royal Rumble, ‘The OTC’ Roman Reigns chose the World Heavyweight. Champion to face at WrestleMania. Roman managed to defeat Punk to capture the World title in the main event of Night 2 of WrestleMania 42. During the post-show of Night 2, Reigns vowed to remain active after defeating Punk.
“I’m gonna take y’all to Monday Night Raw tomorrow night. I’ll see y’all tomorrow night. That’s where we’ll see y’all, alright? All this part-time crap, we’re gonna fix that. Y’all better make some room, because y’all gonna see my ass all summer.”
This announcement excited fans at the prospect of multiple intriguing matchups, and to his credit, Reigns has since appeared on every edition of WWE Raw. He is also set to defend the title against Jacob Fatu at WWE Backlash 2026 on May 9 at the Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida.
The match was set up after Fatu challenged Reigns, even attacking him with the Tongan Death Grip, forcing Reigns to accept the challenge. Fatu had made it clear that he’s not out here to be Tribal Chief, but he needs everything that Roman has and is looking to capture the title, while Reigns wants to teach him a lesson.

Notably, Reigns was being advertised for the June edition of Monday Night Raw. However, he was recently pulled from the promotion of those episodes, sparking speculations among fans.
The June editions of Raw will take place in Europe as the promotion will be on the continent for the European Summer Tour, which also includes the Clash in Italy PLE. WWE will then travel to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 edition of Night of Champions.
