WWE Universe witnessed some truly shocking title changes in the year 2024.
WWE capped off one of the most remarkable years in the history of the company in 2024. From record-smashing events and deals to the rise of new superstars, the year saw it all. Another important part of this year for the company was the shocking moments, especially those that came due to major WWE title changes.
Many superstars won championship gold when fans did not see it coming and were left in awe at the sight of these changes. Here are the top seven shocking WWE title changes in 2024:
7. Shinsuke Nakamura- Survivor Series
LA Knight was riding the wave of huge success as the United States Champion following his win at SummerSlam. However, the Megastar’s momentum was suddenly derailed with the resurgence of Shinsuke Nakamura. The duo met for the US title at Survivor Series in a hard-fought. But it was the ruthlessness of The King of Strong Style that got him the victory and led to LA Knight’s title reign coming to a shocking end.

6. Kelani Jordan- NXT
Kelani Jordan, although was perceived as a standout athlete, she was never able to captivate the WWE NXT audience. Moreover, when the ladder match to crown the first-ever WWE Women’s North American Champion was set, the fan favourite to win was Sol Ruca. But Kelani silenced all doubters and climbed the ladder to unhook the title and became the inaugural champion in shocking fashion.
5. DIY- SmackDown
After The Street Profits were attacked backstage, SmackDown GM replaced them with DIY for a WWE tag team title match against the Motor City Machine Guns. The beloved tag team shocked the audience when Johnny Gargano used underhanded tactics, revealing his tensions with Tommaso Ciampa as a ruse to win the tag titles and turning heel in the process.
4. Unholy Alliance- Clash at the Castle
WWE Clash at the Castle PLE took place in Scotland, with hometown heroes Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn competing for the tag team titles against Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark and the title holders Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair. In an unexpected moment, Fyre and Dawn shockingly won the titles and ended Cargill and Belair’s title reign sooner than expected, getting a huge pop from their hometown audience.

3. Liv Morgan- WWE King and Queen of the Ring
Liv Morgan squared off against Becky Lynch at WWE King and Queen of the Ring PLE for the WWE Women’s World title. Morgan was hell-bent on winning the title after coming short in a battle royal, but the audience was rooting for The Man. However, it was the untimely distraction by Dominik Mysterio that led to Morgan dethroning Lynch for the title and shocking the audience in Saudi Arabia.
2. Sami Zayn- WrestleMania 40
Gunther walked into WrestleMania XL as the 666-day reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion, with Sami Zayn as his opponent. Like Gunther, even the fans did not expect Zayn to end his dominant reign, but they were firmly behind the Underdog from the Underground. Toward the end, Gunther let his overconfidence get the best of him, which allowed Sami Zayn to capitalize and shock the world by ending Gunther’s reign at The Show of Shows.
1. Bron Breakker- WWE RAW
Jey Uso captured the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Bron Breakker in one of the most emotional nights on Monday Night RAW. However, the fans were shocked to see his hard-fought title reign end only in days at the hands of Breakker in October, courtesy of the interference from Solo Sikoa and his Bloodline.
