These WWE superstars failed to hold championships for long, setting records for shortest reigns in 2024.

WWE superstars created history and memorable moments in 2024. But those historic things came not only from memorable matches or remarkable title reigns but also from winning championships and losing them in a matter of days or, in some cases, minutes.

Over the years, records for the shortest WWE title reigns have been remembered in their own right, with 2024 also adding to those surprising records. Here are the top five shortest WWE title reigns that happened in this calendar year:

5. Motor City Machine Guns (42 days)

The Motor City Machine Guns created history in terms of title reigns in two ways upon their arrival in WWE this year. In a matter of few weeks, Chris Sabin and Alex Shelly dethroned the dominant Bloodline after receiving an impromptu title match to win the WWE tag team championships on SmackDown. While it seemed to be a promising run, the duo lost the titles in 42 days to DIY in December, when Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa resorted to underhanded tactics to seal the victory.

4. Becky Lynch (33 days)

After Rhea Ripley vacated the WWE Women’s World Championship due to her shoulder injury, Becky Lynch won a multi-woman battle royal to become the new champion. However, Lynch’s reign lasted only 33 days as she lost the title to Liv Morgan at WWE King and Queen of the Ring PLE due to untimely interference from Dominik Mysterio.

3. DIY (28 days)

The team of Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa battled against Austin Theory and Grayson Waller on SmackDown in August for the WWE tag team titles. With the crowd firmly behind them, the DIY duo displayed their amazing tag team wrestling prowess and defeated A-Town Down Under to win their first main roster titles as a team. But this reign lasted only 28 days as they dropped the belts to Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga of the new Bloodline.

2. Jey Uso (28 days)

Jey Uso earned himself an opportunity against Bron Breakker for the WWE Intercontinental title on RAW after surviving a No.1 contender tournament. Jey brought the fight to the Wolf Dog and went on to defeat him to win his first singles title in WWE after 14 years in one of the most emotional nights on Monday Night RAW. However, the new Bloodline cost Jey the title in only 28 days, and he lost it to Bron Breakker.

1. Drew McIntyre (5 minutes and 46 seconds)

Drew McIntyre waited for almost four years to have his big moment of glory in front of a sellout audience. McIntyre’s wait ended at WrestleMania XL when he defeated Seth Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship.

However, after the match, McIntyre mocked his rival, CM Punk, who was on commentary for the match. This led to Punk attacking him and giving Mr. Money in the Bank Damian Priest the opportunity to cash in his contract on him and take the title away from him. In the process, McIntyre only held the title for 5 minutes and 46 seconds, being the shortest title reign of 2024.
