Top five surprises that could be in store for WWE Elimination Chamber 2025

The second PLE of 2025 will emanate from Toronto

The road to WrestleMania PLE kicked off on February 1 with the Royal Rumble PLE, the next step towards the greatest stage is the Elimination Chamber PLE.

As the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble winners have picked their respective champions to face at WrestleMania, the men’s and women’s Chamber match participants have set their sights on the Undisputed WWE Champion and the Women’s World Champion.

As the promotion prepares for the PLE with two go-home shows of Raw and SmackDown, let us take a look at the top five surprises that might be in store for the second PLE of 2025.

5. Cody Rhodes accepts

In his return on the 02/21 episode of Smackdown, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson called out the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and made him an offer to become “his champion,” stating that it would boost his career and create opportunities for his family.

While Rhodes initially tried to turn down the offer, The Rock asked him to think about the offer and make his decision at the Chamber PLE. Fans are now waiting for the PLE to see what decision Rhodes makes, the champion knows the amount of power Johnson holds and will likely accept the offer in order to boost his career.

4. Roman Reigns returns

‘The OTC’ Roman Reigns has been absent from WWE programming since the Royal Rumble PLE where he was brutally assaulted by Seth Rollins who landed two brutal stomps causing Reigns injury. Rollins has now qualified for the men’s Chamber match and will enter the match in hopes of winning and challenging the champion at Mania.

However, Reigns might make his return during the men’s Chamber match to cost Rollins the opportunity and exact his revenge. Reports already suggest a triple threat match between Reigns, Rollins and CM Punk and Reigns’ return and the subsequent attack might also involve Punk kicking off the storyline between them.

3. Kevin Owens – Sami Zayn feud remains unsolved

Kevin Owens recently turned on his long-time friend Sami Zayn as the latter didn’t help him in the Undisputed WWE title match against Cody Rhodes at the Royal Rumble PLE. The two friends have had a murky history of reunions and betrayals but both claim that this time it’s different.

The two former friends will now battle in an unsanctioned match in their home country of Canada. Fans are very interested in the match and are demanding a Mania showdown between the two. The promotion will likely use this match to further their feud setting up a high-stakes clash at the grandest stage in April.

2. Becky Lynch returns

Despite speculations, Becky Lynch did not make her return at the Raw Netflix debut or the Royal Rumble PLE. However, Lynch has signed a new contract with the promotion and has even been featured in promotional materials for the Raw Netflix debut.

Similar to Alexa Biss’ return the promotion might keep Lynch’s return under the carpet. Lynch might make her highly anticipated return on the second PLE of 2025 capturing fans’ attention.

1. The Rock challenged Cody Rhodes

As mentioned above Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made a lucrative offer to the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on the 02/21 episode of SmackDown. While Rhodes looked hesitant and called himself the champion of the people, Johnson made it clear of the power he held in the promotion.

If Rhodes stays true to his character and his fans, he might reject Johnson’s offer which might irk the Final Boss who will potentially reignite the feud from last year where Rhodes suffered brutal beatdowns. The Rock also might challenge Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title and if he is too busy to compete at the grandest stage he might even recruit the winner of the men’s Elimination Chamber match.
