Five underutilized WWE Raw stars who need bigger push from creative

Despite making appearances, these stars have been very poorly booked by WWE.

WWE’s Monday Night Raw roster is packed with talents who have become household names. The massive talent pool for WWE from NXT also makes sure that the red brand has no shortage of promising stars waiting for their opportunity to shine.

However, despite the depth of talent available and a massive platform like Netflix available, some wrestlers continue to find themselves underutilized or overlooked when it comes to major storylines and meaningful pushes.

Today we will look at five such names who, despite making appearances, have been poorly booked or completely overlooked.

5. Lyra Valkyria

Lyra Valkyria’s tag team with Bayley came to an end before last month’s SNME, leading to a clash between the two, where Valkyria showcased an unhinged version of herself.

However, WWE has failed to capitalize on the momentum, as Valkyria has since not been involved in any major storyline. Infact he appearance on the August 3 show was in the background of a backstage segment. Lyra has shown her abilities inside the ring with veterans like Becky Lynch and Bayley; she just needs a proper creative direction.

4. Rusev

Rusev’s return after WrestleMania 42 sparked massive speculation from fans who started dream-matchmaking the Bulgarian star with old rivals and rising stars. However, apart from a feud with Sheamus, Rusev has only been taking pinfall losses and short-lived Royal Rumble appearances.

The lack of creative direction is so obvious that Rusev is off television for weeks without explanation and then returns just to take a loss or mindlessly attack someone that leads to nowhere.

3. Roxanne Perez

Judgment Day’s Roxanne Perez was one of the top names during her time in NXT. After her main roster debut, fans had very high hopes for Perez. However, WWE has failed to book Perez in interesting matches and feuds; she is just part of the faction that partakes in anything related to the faction.

Perez doesn’t even get any proper mic time, and any attempt to book her in a serious feud ends up failing, as ultimately it all revolves around the faction and its top members.

2. Dominik Mysterio

Speaking of the top members of the Judgement Day, Dominik Mysterio, despite holding the AAA Mega title and being at the front and centre of AAA shows and promotion material, has himself voiced frustration with his creative direction on the Red brand.

Despite being the last person to compete against John Cena and defeating him in Cena’s final PLE appearance, Dirty Dom has become something of an afterthought. Instead of being involved in serious feuds and high-profile storylines, he has largely been relegated to comedic segments and matches.

1. Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker was poised for the main event spot, similar to a rise that Oba Femi has experienced. However, an untimely injury and the creative’s hesitation to push Breakker have left him struggling in the mid-card scene and dragged the irrelevant Vision faction, who now don’t even have Paul Heyman around.

Fans have long called for Breakker to separate from the faction and team up with Heyman to return to the main event scene and aim for the World title. His stern face-off with Oba Femi on Raw after SummerSlam is a right step for Breakker, unless the creative team themselves forget about the tease.
