When did John Cena & CM Punk last square off in WWE?

The two stars have reignited their feud for one final time!

The Undisputed Champion John Cena has a long history with ‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk in the WWE. However, the two stars have decided to reignite their feud for one final time as Cena is set to hang his wrestling boots at the end of 2025 and is currently on his farewell tour.

Punk confronted Cena in the June 09 episode of Monday Night Raw, cutting a promo which had a lot of callbacks to their feuds a decade back. The Second City Saint then challenged Cena for a title clash right there and then.

However, Cena was happy to drag it out and tease Punk as he floated the idea of the match in Riyadh at Night of Champions 2025. The promotion later made the match official between the two, while there were a lot of doubts due to Punk’s past comments about the country and WWE doing business there, it seems like he will be partaking in the PLE.

Punk and Cena sharing the ring together for one final time has created a lot of buzz among fans, with many excited for the two veterans to battle. Let us now take a look at the last time the two stars shared the ring and battled each other.

John Cena and CM Punk last met at the Elimination Chamber 2025

The two icons of not just WWE but pro wrestling last met during the Undisputed WWE title #1 Contendership Elimination Chamber match at the namesake PLE in March. This was their second meeting since Punk came back from a decade-long hiatus.

However, these were multi-man matches and when it comes to the last time John Cena and CM Punk squared off in a singles match in the WWE was in February 2013.

The two stars last battled on the 25 February 2013 episode of Monday Night Raw, which emanated from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Cena put his WrestleMania main event on the line against Punk in the match and emerged victorious in the WWE Heavyweight Title #1 Contendership clash.

After their singles clash, the two stars shared the ring three more times, including once during the Tribute to the Troops in 2013, and twice on Raw and SmackDown, respectively. However, all of these meetings were tag team matches and Three On Two Handicap matches, not singles matches.

The two stars will face off for the final time on June 28 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and fans are eagerly anticipating this epic showdown, offering us one last clash in the ring before Cena retires.
