The assailant returned last night in Kansas City.
The December 13 edition of Monday Night Raw emanated live from the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. As announced for the show, Rey Mysterio made the walk to battle Judgment Dayâs Finn Balor in a singles match.
Logan Paul attacked Mysterio from behind and brought out the brass knuckles, but Rey managed to fight back, ducking the vicious strike. Rey draped Logan over the ropes for a 619, but suddenly the hooded masked man from Survivor Series returned, attacking Rey and delivering another stomp.
The masked man then retreated, running away as security chased after him. This was the same assailant who attacked CM Punk, delivering the stomp during the menâs WarGames match during the 2025 edition of Survivor Series.
LA Knight came out later to aid Mysterio for further punishment, leading Paul to wisely roll out of the ring. Knight then demanded a match with Paul right there and then. The match was later announced by the commentary.
Later in the show, Knight and Paul, as announced, battled in the main event. After initial success, Knight struggled as Logan managed to control the pace. However, Knight mounted a comeback, but the arrival of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed caused more problems as the two interfered in the match as soon as Logan got in trouble.
The referee saw the interference and removed Reed and Breakker from the ringside, but as Knight continued to batter on Paul on the announce desk. However, the masked man in black attire appeared again and delivered a stomp to Knight right on the announce desk, sending him back into the ring, before escaping again.
Who is the masked man?
After the two appearances, many fans on social media began speculating about the identity of the mystery man, with Austin Theory emerging as a popular theory behind the mask and hood.
Some fans theorized that WWE changed the masked man after it became obvious that it was Austin. Others pointed to stars such as Randy Orton, Montez Ford, and even Jacob Fatu, who was recently reported to return soon.
The leading theory, other than Austin, is Montez Ford, who has been teasing his singles run on his social media. Fans also pointed to the difference in mannerisms and physique between the two men.
Here are some fan reactions and theories:
So who is this masked man? Could WWE be using two different talents? While it is possible that WWE could have used a different star on Raw to throw people off, it might also be due to camera angles.
However, Austin Theory being the masked man makes the most sense storyline-wise and multiple reports after Survivor Series also confirmed that Theory was behind the mask during the menâs WarGames match.
Theory had originally been slated to take part in the menâs WarGames match as a member of Vision, but Seth Rollinsâ injury at Crown Jewel forced major changes to the plans. WWE introducing Theory in this manner as the mystery man, with Paul Heyman pretending to be oblivious the entire time, fit seamlessly into the revised storyline and added an extra layer of intrigue to the factionâs direction.
The addition of Theory alongside Breakker, Reed, and Logan Paul will help the faction as the rising stars look to break into the main event scene. Theory and Paul could also help Breakker and Reed, and save them from taking unnecessary pins, hurting their ascent towards the main event scene.
